dinner, bath, play a little bit, read in his bedroom, put to bed

We do it most nights, unless we are out on the weekend, or if we don't give him a bath. A non-bath night has more playing in place of the bath.

Re: moms of young toddlers: what is your bed time ritual?

wow!?!? by 7pm? our dd goes to bed by 9:30pm.. but i get home between 7-8pm.

i nurse her to sleep. i'll shut the lights and relax on the couch.
and she'll fall asleep that way. that's really my ritual. i read to her but not right before bed..

i've been wanting to change it up though.. like nurse, read a book and then put her down.

DD is 13 months.

We start bedtime at 6:45 on bath nights and 7:00 on non-bath nights.

Bath - let her play for a while
Lotion
PJs
Bottle
Bed

She is usually in bed by 7:20ish and asleep by 7:30

Re: moms of young toddlers: what is your bed time ritual?

Wow...I'd never see my kid if he went to bed that early!

Rhys is 16 months and has his last bottle (yes bottle, I'm a horrible mother) around 8:30 then he gets nebulized (some times we switch that around) and we snuggle on the couch until he falls asleep anywhere between 9 and 9:30. He does occasionally stay up until 10 or later but that's not the norm.

IMHO: You have to do what works for you and you kid.

the only reason she goes down that early is that she's an awful napper always has been, and I don't think she'd be able to past much longer after 7...I wish she could bc DH doesn't see her that much during the week bc she goes down so early

in our case, my husband works from home and she'll nap on his chest for a good 1-2 hours. that is his only down time so i guess i would do it too if i were in his shoes. otherwise she would prob only sleep like 30 minutes in the crib. Chat Icon she'll also nap in the car ride to pick me up from the train so that can often push her bedtime back..

My DD just turned 17 months and my DS is almost 2.5 years old. Every other night we bathe them, they have a sippy and watch TV, we brush their teeth, change their diapers, then we give kisses goodnight followed by a family hug, and then we carry them into bed singing a little song we made up. Sometimes we read them a book before we change their diapers.

Re: moms of young toddlers: what is your bed time ritual?

We start about 6-6:15.

Nakey time (older DD is toilet training) for about 20 minutes.

Then pjs, brush teeth, read books, prayers, then good night.

Down by 7pm.

Re: moms of young toddlers: what is your bed time ritual?

15 months -
We get them changed into their pj's, brush their teeth, read them a story and then let them play around on our bed for a little bit. Then into their room, into their sleep sacks and cribs, and lights out.

ETA: We usually start the routine around 7ish and they are in bed by 7:30-7:45.
DH gets home at 6:15 and we all eat dinner together.

Its the same every night except some nights when we get takeout, we eat after they go to bed, so they have dinner without us.

Re: moms of young toddlers: what is your bed time ritual?

We get home between 5 and 5:30 so dinner for DD is between 5:30 and 6. (We eat after she is in bed on weeknights because it's just too hectic otherwise.) She eats, plays in the living room, then goes upstairs around 6:30 for her bath. Plays in the bath for awhile, then into PJs, a song and a story, then kisses goodnight, lights out and into the crib she goes. She is almost always asleep by 7:15.

I hate that I have so little time with her on weekdays (she's not up til about 6-6:30 AM) but she gets very tired if she's not in bed by that time. She does nap about 1.5-2 hours per day.

No more bedtime milk; since we switched to whole milk and got off of bottles she finishes her ~18-20 oz during the day. She was never a big night nurser anyway.

Rylan is 2. At 7:30 he gets in the bath...wash then play. Once out we do lotion...pj's...hair and teeth. I let him turn out the light...we say our prayers...he gives his ducky a kiss...gets tucked in...I kiss him and walk out. Same exact thing every night.

ETA...he's in the crib by 8 as long as we start at 7:30

Re: moms of young toddlers: what is your bed time ritual?

18 months. Dinner at 6. Milk at 7. At around 7:40 we brush her teeth and thenl go put on PJs and I read her 2 books in her room on the glider. I lay her down awake. She fusses for about 45 seconds and goes to sleep. It took a LONG time to get into a routine that worked so well. Now we do it every single night. But it's simple. She gets a bath every other night at 7.
