Mom's who are BF-ing newborns... (burping question)
Does your newborn burp after you BF? Sienna doesn't really burp after she eats... once in a while she burps right after when I burp her but most of the time she doesn't. She's not fussy or uncomfy so i'm assuming it's okay? How long should I try burping her before giving up?

My DD never really needed to burp either. And my sister's newborn (breastfed) isn't a burper either.

Ok good, I figured it was okay since she's always happy but just checking. Thanks!

Re: Mom's who are BF-ing newborns... (burping question)
BF babies don't really need a burping the same way FF babies need to be. If she was showing signs of discomfort, then I would try a little longer but otherwise, don't worry about it.

Re: Mom's who are BF-ing newborns... (burping question)
DD was EBF and she never was a big burper. DS on the other hand is EBF and burps a lot and seems very gassy - he has huge burps...it must be a boy thing

DS was not a good burper at all! he usually didn't need to burp but if he did, he would scream and let us know.

Re: Mom's who are BF-ing newborns... (burping question)
good question...I'm glad you asked.
My son was born a week ago, and I'm breastfeeding also.
He's pretty content after feedings and doesn't seem to need to be burped either. I'm glad to hear it's common and to be expected!
