Moms who EBF and had babies who had trouble taking a bottle.......
DS is 4 mths old and EBF. He will not take a bottle from anyone (whether we try with formula or BM)...I have a bachelorette party this Sat and an out of state wedding in 3 weeks which I would be away for 24 hrs...any tips on how to get him to take a bottle?? And if you had success with this which bottles/nipples were you using? My dd was BF for 13 months...but never had trouble with the bottle!!TIA!

How about the Foley Cup . This is what I bought for a wedding I was in. We didn't need to use it because I was available to feed my DS. But, in the event I couldn't get to him right away, DH was going to feed him with the cup. It makes transitioning to a regular cup much easier anyway!

I had the same problem until we purchased Tommee Tippee bottles with a level 2 flow. She has been taking bottles without any issues since.
Good luck...it know how frustrating it is! I also think if your ds is hungry...he will eventually take the bottle.

are you home/around/in the room when offering the bottle!?!? Many times they will not take the bottle from you or if they see you bec they know you have the "good stuff" If you are out and realize they are not going to get it any other way...they will eventually give in! I promise your DS won't starve!
Also what brand bottle are you using? Some brands are more successful than others! I didnt have any prob going back and forth with avent! (Just FYI)

I had this problem at first. DH was finally able to give him the bottle by gently holding it there for a while. After that it was never a problem. we used the medela bottles with the level 1 nipple that come with the pump.

If you're not there - your baby has no other choice
My DD refuses a bottle and has so since about 4-5 months. I got lazy with using them and now she absolutely refuses. I am trying to introduce BM in a sippy cup. She's 7 months now.
Best of luck to you!

Re: Moms who EBF and had babies who had trouble taking a bottle.......
My mom had this problem with my older sister when she was a baby. She said the pediatrician told her to go out one day, like all day, and leave bottles with my dad. It worked! Eventually, she realized she couldn't smell/hear/see my mom and she figured this was the only way she was gonna eat! I would try that one day before these events come up just to make sure it would work for you. We use Born Free bottles and have never had a problem going back and forth bw bottle and breast (we introduced the bottle around 2.5 weeks and gave at least one a week to keep up with it). I heard a recommendation once for the Learning Curve's Breastflow bottle- it's supposed to mimic how milk comes out of the breast. Good luck!!

I had to be out of the house for him to take a bottle initially. It was difficult at he would cry a lot but eventually drank it when he realized there was no other option. I tried a few and he would only take the playtex drop ins. Now he will drink from the Tomee Tippee also.
