Moms who had serious morning sickness/hyperemesis
Do you ever get flashbacks when you smell something that would have triggered it when pregnant? Almost two and a half years later, and I still gag and get nauseas with certain smells that would have had me retching when pregnant. Anyone else?

HOT DOGS!!!! OMG they were the worst. I tried on last weekend just for kicks. One bite and I was done. So not worth the funky tummy for a dog!

It took me a long time to be able to smell/eat chicken again.
Unfortunatelly, dog puke still makes me sick to my stomach.

sad to say it... but cheese. not all cheese, just the really good stinky cheeses. The kind that were my FAVORITE before i was pg. I was in Uncle Giuseppe's yesterday and almost hurled on the display.

Tortellini! I don't know why, it never bothered me before getting pregnant, and some other things (like meat) made me sick while pregnant but don't bother me now. But the smell and sight of tortellini makes me gag.
Also plastic shower liners. Again, don't know why.

Dr. Praegers (sp?) spinach pancakes!
I don't eat them but my DDl loves them. I would make them for her the beginning of this pregnancy and the smell would send me running to the bathroom. I still can't make them for her

Re: Moms who had serious morning sickness/hyperemesis
Ok....don't laugh at this one but I SWEAR it is true!!!
I had HORRENDOUS morning sickness, well all day sicknes till the day I give birth, so many things made me sick but nothing bothers me now EXCEPT....
MAKING MY BED IN THE MORNING!
Now I know it sounds crazy and I swear its not in my head, but when I was pregnant everytime I was making my bed in the morning I would get nauseous and throw up. I think it was the up and down movement. There was a point at the end of my pregnancy that I physically could not make my bed anymore bc I was sooo sick of getting sick.
To this day making my bed in the morning gives me that "wave" of morning sickness. Def not as severe or debiliting, but it is there!!!
Ok....laugh now!! Lol

Same here.
During my pregnancy, I couldn't stand making chicken at home but I craved KFC Extra Crispy. The smell of chicken at home still makes me gag sometimes.

Re: Moms who had serious morning sickness/hyperemesis
Yes!!! I feel like I am permanently scarred from my pregnancy w/ DS. I too have certain foods/smells that trigger those feelings and it just amazes me that it brings me right back there. I guess that's what being nauseous for 9 months can do to you.

Re: Moms who had serious morning sickness/hyperemesis
I cannot even LOOK at a bottle of ginger ale without getting queasy.
I was in class for the first 25 weeks of my pregnancy. I had a morning class (not my best idea) & I would throw up at home & then race to the car & try to get to the school as quickly as possible before throwing up again. By the time I got there I was usually praying that I could just make it inside before throwing up Well, I had to go back there for paperwork recently & the second I turned into the parking lot I started feeling sick & actually thought "I hope I can get into the building before throwing up."

When I had the worst hyperemesis, we were away for our honeymoon in Thailand. All the music I listened to on the trip, I can't listen to anymore without feeling nauseous!!! AND - get this - my hyperemesis was under control with Zofran and finally lifted by my 7th month of pregnancy. DH took out a bag of chips that had Thai writing that we bought in Thailand but we never ate it there... The sight of the Thai writing made me gag when I didn't have problems anymore!!! It's weird what triggered those feelings!!!!

When I was super sick my mom used to bring me care packages of stuff she bought at the Christmas Tree Shop. Literally she would bring bags full of stuff several times a week... I CANNOT look at a plastic bag from the Christmas Tree Shop with out wanting to puke. I get mad when my mom even mentions the name of the store, because literally just hearing the words spoken makes me nauseous

Re: Moms who had serious morning sickness/hyperemesis
I had severe HG with all three pregnancies. I now get motion sickness (car sick) very easily where I never did before and gag at certain things but nothing from my pregnancy because when you have HG everything regarding food, blood, smells and basically anything else made me vomit!
