Money amount to give at a wedding
We were invited to a co-workers wedding at my hubby jobs. I really like them but have only met them a few times. What would you give??
$200 $225 $250?
Thanks

I would give what you can afford and what you feel is appropriate. I think any of those amounts are sufficient and generous. I personally give $300 and $500 for family because I can relate to how expensive weddings are.
ETA: Those amounts do get smaller depending on how many weddings we have that year. Thankfully we are past the wedding stage. There was a time when we had 5 a year!!!

Re: Money amount to give at a wedding
For the most part we would probably give $200, but there are other factors that could sway it such as location of the wedding. If it were in someone's backyard I would give less, if it were in NYC at some really expensive hotel or place I would give more.

Re: Money amount to give at a wedding
for a co-worker, $200, unless it was someone i associated with outside work and considered a friend - then i would give $300, which is what i give all my friends.

Re: Money amount to give at a wedding
I guess I'm in the minority here. If it's a Friday night or Saturday wedding, I'd give $250. Sunday you can give $200. Very few places are less then $100 a plate on a Fri or Sat.

I would give what you can afford. We went to a wedding at Oheka two years ago, and what we gave was no where what the cost of our plates were for the Saturday night wedding in June

I don't vary based on the time or day of the wedding.

Re: Money amount to give at a wedding
i think $200 should be fine. i'm a little jaded on the whole wedding gift thing after some of the gifts we got at our wedding ( $125 from a family of 6- 2 parents, their 3 ADULT children, and the adult daughters fiance; $50 from a family of 4- 2 parents, 2 teenage boys) LOL so i say give whatever you can afford...i'm sure there will be people who will give them less.

Re: Money amount to give at a wedding
I usually try to give based on what they payed per plate + extra for close friends and family if I want....I know this is a very touchy subject, just how I like to do it.

Re: Money amount to give at a wedding
I only go to a wedding if I consider the person a friend. If a co-worker invites me to a wedding and I don't really consider them a friend, I would probably decline the invitation.
I give friends between $300 - $500.
I think that you should only give what you can afford to give though.
