Re: Most important issue for the next 4 years
Pretty reliably, the economy does better under Democrats than Republicans, despite what Republicans say...
https://www.jec.senate.gov/public/_cache/files/309cc8e1-b971-45c6-ab52-29ffb1da9bf5/jec-fact-sheet---the-economy-under-democratic-vs.-republican-presidents-june-2016.pdf
https://www.thebalance.com/democrats-vs-republicans-which-is-better-for-the-economy-4771839
Not counting the Depression, Democrats gained 3.6% on average while Republicans gained 2.8%.

Cuomo wouldn’t have had to make choices if covid was handled on the federal level. Trump admitted on tape that it was highly contagious and dangerous but still held rallies and called it a hoax and made fun of people wearing masks and silenced doctors. He also suggested bleach injections. And he wasn’t kidding.
Sorry, but over 200k+ Americans dead , gone forever, and acting like it’s just inconvenient is heartless and, frankly, dumb.
3000 people died on 9/11 and the world stopped. It stops each year.
We have over 200k dead here in 7 MONTHS and another 100k projected dead by January and most don’t bat an eyelash and are mad they have to wear masks. “Oh who cares, most live.”
I don't know anyone who has taken these deaths lightly, as well as the president. 6% of these deaths were ONLY by covid and while all deaths are horrible, many were either old and sick or had underlying conditions. These people need to be more careful and let the rest of us go on with life.

You could write a book on all of the times that trump couldn't remember who he was ACTUALLY TALKING to.... like the CEO of Apple, Tim Apple....
Please, the poor man is not up to taking on this challenge and his wife and family should be ashamed of themselves for putting him through all of this. Did you watch it when Jill tried to mouth Trump to him? She was embarrassed as she know what he was doing. They all know he won't last and is being set up to allow Harris to become president. You can't be that naïve not to see what is going on. I honestly feel bad for him as he is not a dumb man. He is old though and too old to handle all of this anymore.

Definitely climate change. We won't get these years back. The clock is ticking.
Healthcare also, although that ship has most likely sailed now that Murkowski has officially flipped - not that it was a surprise.
With pre existing conditions no longer always protected we'll have big problems eventually.
Didn't Trump say preexisting conditions will be covered?
He did.
He did but has not presented a comprehensive health plan that includes coverage of pre-existing conditions. It's just his word at this point.
They both have not presented clear plans.
Plans? It’s too late for plans. Trump had 4 years and a Republican Senate and got nothing done in terms of healthcare. Obama had ACA signed in March 2010, after taking office in 2009.
I’m more than confident that his teammate at the time, Joe Biden, would be a good architect to help fix the non-actions of Mr. Trump in the area of healthcare.
Exactly. For the first two years the executive and legislative branches were red. They had the votes to pass anything they wanted to. They failed. Enough already - they either don't know what they are doing or they don't care. I suspect it's some combination of the two.
They didn’t even have the votes to repeal the ACA. Which means the republicans would rather have the ACA than nothing. Trump just has a hard on for anything Obama did so that’s why he’s targeting it.
Yes, so true. They tried a few times. I remember the visual of McCain giving the thumbs down. There were some close calls that summer.
It's incredible the harm this guy is willing to do to the American people just to stick it to Obama.
Repubs try this all the time and they never learn. I remember during the Baby Bush years when he was trying to privatize Social Security. Way too much backlash.
They don't get that people actually like a social safety net.
Are you doing better or worse than you were 4 years ago?
I am in fact worse off, but it's not that simple. You're thinking in binary fashion.
There are horrifying seeds being planted right now, mainly related to health care and climate change.
Presidents come and go. The Supreme Court does not. And this scummbag shaped a third of it.
Plus, like others said, I don't only care about myself.
Lastly, almost all of the economic gains in the early years of the presidency were from Obama's policies. It's not a switch that goes off on January 21st.
The economy has come back under Trump. Not sure if anyone has looked at their investments.

The economy and the stock market are 2 different animals. The economy is production and jobs. The stock market has had continued support from the Fed whereas Congress controls fiscal action thus more effect on the economy. Big Business is doing well with increased market share from mom & pop shops closing. Favorable tax legislation and decreased regulation. That lines the 1%'s pocket. How have be come back? He was given a growing economy and we are now in a recession. The country is cash strapped with the biggest national deficit ever. GDP grew in the 3rd quarter only because the facet was turned back on but it's drawing from a bucket of water that is finite. Of the 22 million jobs lost - only 1/2 are back. Do you know what housing is going to look like eviction and foreclosures are allowed to happen again? Where do all those business owners and their employees go for work now that their business is gone? There is no job creation currently.

Re: Most important issue for the next 4 years
Even with the "record" pace of the recovering in the 3Q; it still doesn't offset the the record drop in the 2Q. The economy is still 3.5% smaller then last year and is projected to end smaller then 2019. Trump has not outlined any plan to grow jobs in another term. And only about 1/2 of the jobs lost in Mach and April have recovered. Our economy is not doing well.

The loss of jobs and not being able to pay rent or mortgage go hand and hand. That was done by govenors shutting down their states economy.

I think most if not all people are concerned about their health insurance too.
Investments, in and outside of work is very important and should be thought of as soon as you get a fulltime job and after saving for many, many years it is something that weighs heavily on someone's mind so they have a cushion when they are older.

Have you seen footage of him 10 years ago? He's not the same person. He's as incompetent as ever, but the mental decline is very obvious.
Yep when he came home from having Covid. You have seen that since?
According to the "stable genius", he said he was cured. Are you doubting that he was cured? He couldn't possibly be lying about that. He said he felt better than he had in 20 years. According to his own words. If he's wheezing when feeling better than the last 20 years, that's saying a lot.... it's worse than I thought. Based on his own words.
I believe he had it like many others have, not as severe symptoms. Is he still wheezing?

edited for space Lastly, almost all of the economic gains in the early years of the presidency were from Obama's policies.
ITA and that is why the governors need to open up their states more so people can get back to work.
You said the economy has come back under Trump and pointed to the stock market as evidence of such. I disputed that. It has nothing to do with governors.
The loss of jobs and not being able to pay rent or mortgage go hand and hand. That was done by govenors shutting down their states economy.
So the shut down of our economy is the governors fault but the rebound of our economy is the President's doing? You can't have it both ways. Maybe if the Trump adm. took the outbreak seriously from the beginning? Here are some numbers...
U.S. gross domestic product grew at a 1.9% annual rate from the time Trump was inaugurated in 2017 through first quarter of this year when the coronavirus hit, a bit slower than the 2.4% annual growth rate in the equivalent period just before Trump took office. Job growth slowed slightly over that same period, from 223,000 per month under Obama to 185,000 under Trump. The total annual return of the S&P 500 SPX, 1.68% Index rose slightly over that period, from 9.3% under Obama to 11% under Trump. The only economic feat Trump can say is his own is our current recession. That is all him.
