MTHFR/Lovenox girls
So I had my DD in 2011 and was on Lovenox because of having the MTHFR gene (homozygous c).
Im currently pregnant and went to the dr and she said they now changed their protocol and do not recommend going on Lovenox unless you've had a clot. She is still going to have the high risk dr see me to give their opinion.
Thoughts? Is this the case now? I'm seeing a different dr now and I really like her, but it makes me nervous not being on Lovenox because I had two miscarriages before my DD. I don't know if Lovenox was the reason I carried to term...
Just curious what other girls with homozygous MTHFR are doing.

MTHFR/Lovenox girls
I tested positive for protein s deficiency while at rsofny. As soon as I became pregnant they started me on 40mg of lovenox daily. I have never had a clot. My dr of maternal fetal medicine also agreed I should be on it. I would want a 2nd opinion if I were you. Good luck

Re: MTHFR/Lovenox girls
I know. It's making me uncomfortable. I'm going to the high risk dr too, but I think I'm going to call my blood dr tomorrow and see what she says. She wanted me on Lovenox last time.

Re: MTHFR/Lovenox girls
The minute I had a positive beta my RE put me on Lovenox. When I went to the ob I just continued. I have never had a clot before but I think maybe that contributed to me not getting pregnant. I would voice my concern to my ob.

MTHFR/Lovenox girls
I'm homozygous for mthfr. I went to a hematologist for a consultation and he said that we would never recommend a blood thinner during pregnancy unless you have a history of a clot. He feels that many, many people have it and never know and that thinners have many potential side effects and you should stay away from them if possible.

Interesting and my hematologist wanted me on it when I was pregnant with my dd. She said she wouldn't feel right not having me on it just in case since I am homozygous for MTHFR.

MTHFR/Lovenox girls
I have mthfr and antiphospholipid ( blood clotting issue). I was on 40 mg oflovenox from 5 weeks to 36 when I switched to heparin. Also on daily baby aspirin and b12 shots every other week Both my ob and hematologist agreed on my treatment I never had a clot, but had two miscarriages before my daughter and the drs believed that a clot formed around the baby
I would get a 2 opinion Lovenox cant hurt
Congrats!

This. I am pregnant with #2 and the guidelines have drastically changed since DD #1 in 2008. They no longer recommend lovenox unless there's been a prior clottin event. I am only on baby Asa, b vitamins and high dose folic acid. I was seen by high risk (actually 2 different ones) who said same thing.

Thanks. I am waiting for her to call me back and will go with her opinion. She was very persistent with her wanting me on Lovenox last time.

Re: MTHFR/Lovenox girls
My DH and I both have the MTHFR gene and my doctor didn't put me on anything. She said it's so common she doesn't even test for it the majority of the time. My DH has other hereditary issues, which is why we went for testing to begin with.
PS: Congrats and best of luck!!

Re: MTHFR/Lovenox girls
Thanks everyone! Spoke to my hemo and she said I should be on Lovenox because of my miscarriages in the past and because I also have BIA-1 mutated gene, which I never even knew about?! So she said that with the combination of MTHFR and miscarriages, I should be on it.
My OBGYN just called in the script. Thanks!!
