My 10 month olds are getting their first flu shot today
I really hope there are no side effects. Any negative experiences ? For some reason, I am more worried about this shot than the regular vaccines.

we had no side effects, but it is a two part shot - they forgot to tell me so make sure you make the appt for a month later before you leave!

DS had it at 6m, it was the easiest shot he ever got. Don't know if it was the age or what, but he barely cried. No reactions, but DS never had a reaction to any shot.

it depends on your ped. My ped gives me the option. We chose 2 doses
To the OP he did get a cold 3 days after the shot, but that could just be a coincidence

I looked it up on the CDC site and its not effective until after the second dose. . . for the first year they get it - it has to be TWO doses. . . its not like a half and half dose, just two full doses.

Re: My 10 month olds are getting their first flu shot today
My DD didn't have a reaction to the flu shot but keep in mind that the area can be sore for a f ew days. It seems like with the flu shot that soreness in the area is common - it happens to me and my DH too whenever we get one and happened to our DD. So, just have Tyylenol or Motrin on hand.
