My acne success story
hi guys- i wanted to post this because a while back i was on accutane and many people were asking me about my treatment.
i was on accutane for 5 months- between the deeply chapped lips and the joint pain, at 5 months i stopped cold turkey because i coundt take it anymore. in addition my skin was no better and i had no idea why. i was still getting those massive cysts.
around easter time i decided to switch makeup. i was using loreal true match makeup on some days and on others i was using oil free clinique foundation.
I gave mineral makeup a try- the one from the drug store called physicians formula. in addition that same day i bought the neutrogena stress free face wash.
from that day forward i have had clear skin. it has been almost 2 months and my acne has virtually disappeared.
i just want to tell you ladies suffering from acne that it may just be your makeup. i urge you to try the mineral makep and if you are a stressed ouyt peron like me try it in conjunction with the neutrogena stress free foaming face wash.
i feel like a new person!!

thanks for sharing yoru story. I too get very bad acne when I am stressed. I SWEAR by nutrogena oil free acne wash. I definitely want to switch to mineral makeup.

thank you for sharing...My DH has a problem with it & doesn't know why. I am going to get him that face wash as he is under so much stress with work!

I am so happy you posted this. I have been using ProActives for so long now and just switched to Oil of Olay Anti Age/Anti Acne, and it's not great for my skin.
I'm going to try this combo. Thanks

Pork I had the same success once I switched to mineral makeup. I use Bare Minerals, but the concept is probably the same.
It was the greatest find ever!!

your skin looks great!
i never had acne "problems" but for a while i was breaking out all the time due to stress. once i switched to bare minerals i notice how clear and glowy my skin is - even without makeup!

 good for you! I don't have acne, but I have roseacea on my cheeks and am very self conscious about it. I SWEAR by mineral makeup! I haven't tried the drug store brands - but I want to since they are more travel friendly than Bare Minerals, which is what I use.

First off, you skin looks great!!!
You're gonna' hate me  ...but could it possibly be that your skin cleared up after the 5 months of being on Accutane?
(I've done 4 treaments of Accutane: 3 full yr-highest dose and one 3 month-low dose treatment of Sotret.)
Although your skin has cleared up beautifully, I wouldn't attribute it to makeup and face wash alone. Someone with cystic acne probably won't have the same results as you w/o being on Accutane (or some form of Isotretinoin.) I had cystic acne and nothing cleared it up but Accutane/Sotret. Didn't matter what wash, what topicals/medicines or makeup I used.

You look great!! I have used minerals for the past 6 years! I just recently used that Physicians Formula foundation and its pretty comparable to Bare Minerals

could be but i stopped acutane december 20th
and my skin got better as soon as i switched foundation in march...
to me i am sure the accutane killed some of it, but i saw significant change after i changed my makeup
i will agree my cystic acne has gone away since switching to bare minerals - and i have not gone on acutane in 9 years - i didn't think mine was caused by makeup because lately it had been on the underside of my chin but i haven't had a flare up in 2 months
i am going to try that cleanser too

I'm really glad you posted an update, I've been wondering how it went.
I'm going to give mineral makeup a try, since my acne has gotten bad again and my dermatologist wants to put me back on accutane. Sigh. Though I don't know if the mineral makeup will help the breakouts on my chest?

I would have never known that you battled acne, you look beautiful in all your pics and you're one of the sweetest-smartest gals on these boards! I am glad you found a solution. I too battle it and when my skin is acting better I am so much happier!

I noticed a big difference when I switched to Bare Minerals. I thgouth it was just that my skin was changing with age, but when I go back to other types of foundation, it breaks out again.
I use Nutrogena Anti Wrinkle/Anti-Blemish cleanser & I notice a change if I stop that too.
I've never been on Acutane.
