My fluid is low - anyone experience this?
I went to the doctor this morning because of the cramping and bathroom issues I had over the weekend.
I had quite a few BH contractions when I was on the monitor. The baby looks great and is measuring at 8.3 pounds. (I know, just an estimate ) - I'll be 38 weeks on Wednesday. There is no internal progress and the doc couldn't even feel DS's head. My rash is back on my belly and getting worse - he didn't think it was a big deal at all - it's driving me crazy, it itches SO much!
My doc was mildly concerned about my amniotic fluid - apparently there was a noticeable decrease since last Thursday. He wants me drinking water around the clock from now until I go back on Wednesday. They also took a ton of blood to check all of my other levels and stuff - apparently they can tell if labor is close through the bloodwork
If you have any experience with low fluid levels, what was the outcome? Did your doctor induce? Did your fluid level go back up?

Re: My fluid is low - anyone experience this?
Ok- time to be induced V! I'm only saying that b/c I know you are done and willing to have an induction. I have no experience with low fluid but I'm sure if it's even lower next time, he'll induce you.
Keep drinking fluid. It's not low enough that the baby is in danger, it's just lower than last week- not even a week.
You've suffered enough- time for an induction!
ETA: Tomorrow is SEPT 1st!!!!!!!!!! Yay for SEPTEMBER MOMMIES!!!!!!

I wouldn't mind being induced, but at the same time, I would like to go on my own, even though I'm MORE than ready!

No real experience with it but I know my OB told me last week if I go tomorrow fo rmy sono & the fluid is low, they will induce me bc that means the placenta is not functioning to the best for the baby....
So I am they will induce you too, I know how much you want this boy out!!!! Plus, WOW on the size Seems all these boys are BIG!

He kind of hinted around inducing me Wednesday if the fluid didn't go back up - I don't think he wanted to say anything definite, though.
Does fluid do that, though? Go back up on its own???
Holy crap.

Re: My fluid is low - anyone experience this?
I had low fluid with my ds and have it again with this pregnancy. I was told drink, drink, drink! I consume an insane amount of water everyday and that keeps my afi between 11.5 and 12.5. If I don't it drops down to around 8.5. If it gets too low they can try IV fluids but since you are passed 38w they will prob induce. They don't want the fluid to stay low because it can cause cord issues. But don't worry if it was that low they would have sent you straight to L&D . But to answer the question my levels go up and down. If I drink enough they are good. If I am a bad girl and slack on the water drinking the level drops. Good luck

Re: My fluid is low - anyone experience this?
I don't have any personal experience with this but I actually saw girl on " A baby story" today and she had low amniotic fluid so they sent her right to the hospital to be induced. Supposively if your fluid gets really low then the baby can sit more on the cord restricting blow flow and oxygen.

Re: My fluid is low - anyone experience this?
i had low fluid for 2 weeks with dd, and ultimately was induced also..if its 7 or under (mine was hovering between 6.8-8) they will certainly induce.. drinking water does help ALOT though..i would try that..induction can be iffy, either real fast or real painful and slow.. either way, who cares?!?!! Youre having a baby soon!!!!
woo hooo!! :)

I know I'm not pregnant anymore, but I would be more than happy to be your text buddy
And um, you're not going ANYWHERE to be induced until you post a current belly pic--since I didn't get to see it in person

Re: My fluid is low - anyone experience this?
I had low fluid (of course, bc Jack took up my entire body lol) and I drank a ton of water and it went back up. I was monitored a ton after that and as long as I drank water I was ok!

Me too. The doctor wouldn't even let me go home for my bag--told me to go right to the hospital!

Re: My fluid is low - anyone experience this?
I had very low fluid levels when I was PG with DS and eventually I was hospitalized for it. Even with IV's and strict bedrest in the hospital, my fluid levels kept decreasing and DS was delivered at 35 weeks. No induction because they felt it was a risk for DS and instead delivered him via C-section.
But I was not as far along as you. At this point, you are considered full term so if you had to be induced, it would be fine. Good luck with everything !

Re: My fluid is low - anyone experience this?
I also had low fluid levels starting around 37 weeks. I was told to drink lots of water, which I already was, and I needed to have a sono every few days. The levels kept fluctuating, up for one sono, down for the next until my 39 week appointment when the tech couldn't find enough to measure, so I was sent to the hospital to be induced.
