History
3 failed clomid/IUI cycles
-each cycle had 3-5 mature eggs and sperm counts of over 30 million

Unexplained infertility. Possible egg quality issue. FSH levels of 10, 10, and 12 past 3 cycles.

I have one healthy child.


11/2/09
CD3, blood and sono all clear. Waiting for results on Fragile X testing.
Started BCPs. Will take BCPs for 10 days.


11/3/09
Went to the IVF Orientation. We got to see the building where the egg retrieval and transers are done. The embryology lab director gave a presentation on IVF. It was very informative for DH.


11/4/09
Had my mock transfer today. I didn't feel a thing. My uterus is retroverted and tilted to the right, so there is usually a lot of poking and prodding to find the opening of my cervix. My IUIs were pretty painful so this was a pleasant surprise.
I also had a water sono. Everything looked normal (tilted, but otherwise OK).
Still taking the BCPs. 7 more pills to go.


11/7/09
Injection class today. I have to admit I am very nervous about the progesterone shot!


11/12/09
Took my last BCP last night.
Went for sono and bloodwork. Lining was 6 and both ovaries were quiet. Will return on Saturday for another sono before beginning Follistim on Sunday.
Big box of meds delivered tonight. $1400 just for the Follistim! Everything else was covered.

11/13/09
Met with the nurse practicioner today.
Good news (I guess?) is that this cycle my FSH went down a little to 9 (was 12).
Bad news is that DH has a large amount of abnormal sperm. This is the first time I am hearing anything about this (after the initial sperm test sample & 3 IUIS, all we were told was how GREAT his samples were). Because of this, they are recommending ICSI.

11/14/09
Sono & bloodwork this morning. Lining is still 6 and both ovaries quiet. Starting 450 IU Follistim tomorrow.


11/16/09
Started follistim yesterday. Piece of cake!
I have a horrible headache. I hope its a coincidence and not a side effect of the follistim.


11/18/09
First follie check. Only had 4 less than 10 on the right, and 6 less than 10 on the left.
Continuing follistm for 2 more night and then another follie check.


11/20/09
Second follie check. Had about 6 measuring 11-12 and a bunch less than 10. Continuing follistim tonight and another follie check in the morning.

Just got a call from the RE's office. I am continuing with the follistim tonight and but they added a shot of ganirelix in the morning.


11/22/09
So today is a week of stimming, and I only have 10 follies measuring over 10. I am disappointed. I was hoping for at least 15.
Continuing with follistim & ganirelix.
Looking at possible ER on Black Friday.


11/24/09
Well, I have 6 mature follies and 4 that we are hoping will catch up. I am really disappointed.
Tonight will be my last night of stims, HCG tomorrow, and ER on Friday.
Not feeling hopeful...

Good news! The little follies caught up! I have 10 measuring 18+ and a few that are 15-16.
Trigger shot tonight!!! ER on Black Friday!


11/27/09
Just got back from my retrieval. They got 13 eggs!
I feel great. No cramping.


11/28/09
Just got the call with not so great news. Out of the 13 retrieved, 8 were mature and only 5 have fertilized.
I'm not feeling very optimistic.
Transfer will be on Monday unless they push it to a 5-day - which will be Wednesday.


11/30/09
Transfer was pushed to Wednesday.

11/30/09 - update 2
I spoke to the embryologist. She said all 5 of my embryos are doing excellent! She actually used the word PERFECT!


12/2/09
Transfer done! We put back 2 embryos. The doctor said one was an "early blast" and one was a "full blast".

We lost one of the embryos, so we have 2 remaining. I hope they will both be able to be frozen.


12/4/09
The remaining 2 embryos did not make it to freeze. I am so upset.
Pregnancy test 1 week from today.


12/7/09 - BFP??!!
I took a HPT yesterday with the intention of getting a BFN, so I could be sure the trigger was out of my system before testing this week. I was 4dp5dt. The test was very faint but positive. I couldn't rule out the trigger though.

I just tested again, at 7pm, after only holding my pee for 2 hours, and it is a darker positive.
Could this be real?
I am 5dp5dt. Trigger was 12 days ago.

6pt5dt- Used FMU this morning and got an even darker positive.
Also took a digital and got "pregnant"
My beta test is on Friday but I will be testing every day until then.


12/11/09 - Beta
So I've been testing every night since the 8th, and they have all been positives.

This morning I went for my bloodwork.
The nurse just called with my first beta results (9dp5dt)......

317!!!

My progesterone is 40-something.
Going back on Monday for repeat beta.

12/14/09 - Beta #2
Second beta was 935 (3 days after first beta).
First sono on Tuesday next week!

First sono today. Everything looked just as it should for 5w4d. Next sono in a week.

WOnderful news! We are cycle buddies as my ER will probably be Friday too. I had 8 this morning measuring between 10.5 and 18!

ohhhh good luck!!! Im right behind you!! took a little longer to stim but we are finally seeing some follies bigger than 15mm!!! surprised me at how QUICKLY they can grow in one day!
