This is what I was going to say, too. I think what you're doing is WONDERFUL--you're telling her what the different parts of the body are for...not gross at all.
But I did wonder, since you're making the extra effort, why you didn't refer to them by their correct name? Not meant to be a flame at all (and trust me, I still get the heebys when I tell my DD, "Yes, that's your brother's penis  ). But no nicknames around here.
But, it could just be that I'm weird about that stuff...nothing bothers me more than when a woman says she's "Preggo". Or better yet, "Prego".

I too thought the same. It just seems very contradictory to me to want her to know what they do yet use a slang term like boobies. If she can talk about what they do and what they are for, then why not be technical and also teach her to refer to them as breasts, not boobies?

ITA and I find it a little weird that they think it's gross. Would they prefer you tell your daughter that boobies are for motor-boating?

Its definitely not gross.. I personally didn't BF in public but when my sister and friend came over I definitely pump right in front of them.. HAHAHAH

LOL only because I hate the word breasts LOL She knows they are breasts I just really hate saying it so I just say boobs when speaking to her.

Thanks everyone, I am so happy to see so many people agree with me on this. My mom is totally pro BFing but for some reason this bothers her. I guess she just doesn't like that I talk about breasts at all to her, KWIM? She thinks there is no reason for it but DD did see me nurse DS and pump so I do see a reason for it. Rest assured, we don't talk about this all day long just when I am getting out of the shower or something.
I also make sure that I do let her know that they are private. We actually refer to private areas as "bathing suit areas". That way she always remembers that everything covered by her bathing suit is only for her to see and touch.

I plan on teaching Sienna the same thing because there is no reason why anyone should feel grossed out or ashamed of BFing. I think it is sad that breasts are viewed basically only as sexual and not as utilitarian as well.
