Re: N. Carolina girls please come in
just curious, for those that moved to NC, did you or your DH secure a job before making the move first and did you have homes to sell in NY? also did you buy a house right away or rent first? reading posts like this makes me really want to relocate, especially because my taxes went up nearly 2k in 2 years... worried about how much longer we could afford to stay here. I would just be concerned on how to find a job from up here in NY and also, selling the house. would love to hear your experiences.

N. Carolina girls please come in
we did not have a house in nyc to sell no jobs in nc we knew no one. i had actually never been to NC other then driving through on 95. we called an apt finder company-they hooked it up and we packed up a uhaul and moved dh applied at every restaurant. i was in a mall- i talk a lot-i started talking to a girl-her bff was a restaurant head hunter. i told her about dh and gave his #. the next morning, he had 6 interviews lined up. the rest is history. we rented first...for about 4 yrs. bought, sold, renting again. we are at a point where we are following around promotions and money-so we sold and currently renting. what field are you in?

Moved down before buying, both were able to transfer with our firm (I actually got a promotion to move down).
I was 7.5 months pregnant and we bought within 2 months of living here.

we did not have any debt and bought our cars in cash-so we figured we could always afford cheap apt rent no matter where we work. good luck!

Re: N. Carolina girls please come in
Does anyone know anything about the Greensboro area? That's where we may move b/c of DH's job. I can't find too much info online about the school there and the area itself. Can you recommend any specific towns/areas in Greensboro? Any help appreciated! He'd already have a job secured there if we go, and the only thing stopping us is family (we are very close and I wouldn't be able to discuss the move w/them b/c there would be a lot of guilt- we'd have to decide and then just TELL them!).

I've been to Greensboro and I wasn't really a fan. I also know other NYers who had moved there and hated it, wanted out immediately. One transferred to Raleigh and loves it now!! Prob wouldn't be my top NC pick, but if thats where the job is then I'd def take a trip and check it out.

can't quote on tablet, sorry. For the person asking. We lived in Greensboro for a couple of years, and moved to NY right after my son was born, so I have no idea about schools. We lived in the Adams Farm area, which was nice. That was like 14 years ago though
in fact, this is where we lived, and it was nice back then. http://www.bellapartmentliving.com/NC/Greensboro/Steeplechase-at-Adams-Farm/

Re: N. Carolina girls please come in
My mom and my sister and her family all moved to Chapel Hill in the last year. So I have been to visit a few times. its a nice area, but I feel like they are a little bit out there. Which is def good and bad. Their neighborhood is amazing.
They are both trying to get me and my husband to move there. We are def leaving Long Island since we want kids and to own something. But Im not sure NC is right for us. I think I could find a job (Im an admin assistant in finance right now) but my husband works in music. Im not sure there would be any work for him there.
Out of curiosity, anyone have any idea what range corporate admin jobs pay in the triangle area?

gina-it is crazy. the most i see is 28-35k. i could not ever justify going back to it and putting in the amount of hours needed. that wasn't triangle though-that was charlotte investment banking
