name change...do i have to do it on passport?
its been 2 years since we've been married and i've been putting it off...changing my last name...but now that we have a son, DH wants me to change my name so we all have the same last name...but i'm so lazy....what's the bare minimum that i have to change....ehehehe

I literally got my passport the month before we got married because I needed it for the honeymoon so it doesnt expire for like 10 years or something. Im just going to wait. Its been 3 years already. I dont think you have to change it anyway.

If you don't want to change it, you just have to make sure you ticket is the same name as on your passport. Otherwise, you need to change it (and pay the full price for a new passport).

The absolute bare minimum is really your Social Security card and your Driver's license. Technically you only have to change your passport if you plan on traveling with it.

I believe that if you travel, you will need to travel under your legal name and that your airplane tickets, passport and other documents should match.

yes, this is true. if you change your name legally but not on your passport, you cannot fly. If you buy tickets under your new name but that name doesnt match the old name on your passport ... no good.
It costs $75 to get a new passport (if it has been over a year, less than a yr since last purchasing a passport is free).
You just need to fill out a form, send a new pic and proof of name change (and money if needed). thats it!
