Nameless babies at birth...??
k, so, greg decided to tell me the other day- he doesnt really like allie....fine- i would push if i was in LOVE with it, but im not- i just liked it a lot.....
so, at almost 36 weeks, we are without a name...we throw a couple around here and there...
what im wondering is- have any of u been completely without a name until your DC was born- i told greg, lets just relax, not push the name issue, and we will figure out a name when shes born- we will see what she looks like....
is that normal to do?

Re: Nameless babies at birth...??
I didn't do it, we went with a name I've loved for years & years, but I hear people say that they'll wait to see the baby to decide on a name. I don't think it's weird.
Now, Brooke Burke went 3 weeks or more w/o naming her newborn son...that may be pushing it in my opinion

Re: Nameless babies at birth...??
of course! just don't become brook burke and wait over three weeks to give your child a name
DH and i have a list of names we like for a girl or a boy but we have decided not to make any final decisions until we "meet" our little one.

Re: Nameless babies at birth...??
We were undecided for about an hour after DS was born, but we had a few names in contention..... We thought maybe we'd have a girl and it wouldn't be an issue....not the case!

Re: Nameless babies at birth...??
DH and I didnt know what we were having, but we really thought it was going to be a boy. As they wheeled me into the operating room for my c-section we were still going over boy name choices - we had 3 names but hadnt decided on one.
We ended up having a girl though and had a name picked out.

We went w/ a name we agreed upon probably around 8 months. My parents though named ME after I was born & they saw me.

Re: Nameless babies at birth...??
I also wanted to add, my sister didnt really care for a name my bil wanted for my nephew. So they decided on another name, then when he was born they looked at him and chose the name my sis didnt want, b/c he looked like the name to them.
So you never know ... allie may be the name once you see her.

See - there was a reason I couldn't find the blocks
Its totally fine - I would just go in with at least a list of names you like. I have a few that I love that I can give you and I promise you can use them and I won't even get mad

Re: Nameless babies at birth...??
My mom's birth certificate actually reads Baby Girl "Maiden Name" because my g'ma could not decide on a name. Every time she said one, my great-g'ma vetoed it. (Yah, she was a bit controlling. ) My g'ma finally said "Her name will be Ellen!" and that was that. (I think that my great-g'ma was OK with that name since my g'ma's name is Helen and the names are similar.)

Re: Nameless babies at birth...??
Yes, we named Lauren an hour before I was discharged, and ONLY because we needed to fill out the paperwork to get her birth certificate before we left the hospital. We tossed around so many and nothing we loved 100%.
My baby sister, who is 25 now, was dishcarged from the hospital without a name (poor 6th child syndrome ). her original birth certificate has her name as Baby Girl Brady. When my parents did finally name her (same name as my mom! ), she got an amended birth certificate.

We didn't decide on our name until she was born. It was actually a little while after. I felt I had to meet her before anything was set in stone.

Re: Nameless babies at birth...??
We went through this.. But I assure you that you'll meet your DD and you'll just figure it out, she'll just look like a ((insert name here)) to you and your DH and all will be good
We went into the hospital completely undecided on our son's name.. we had a 'list' of about 4 names we liked but nothing was really catching us.. (though we were set on his middle name all along.. go figure )
He was Baby Boy "P" until he was almost 2 days old, when we both just looked at him and said "Nikolas" (which actually was my DH's LEAST favorite choice, but was always my fave.. go me )
Of course it took us another hour or so to figure out how we wanted to SPELL Nikolas until we went with the "K"... I dread if we ever have another boy because we have NO names left, as we have since tossed the other names from our original 'list' out the door

Re: Nameless babies at birth...??
I think that's reasonable. My parent's had a name picked out for me through my mom's whole pregnancy and then when I was born they gave me a different name.

We had about five names we liked and we chose one.

Re: Nameless babies at birth...??
Funny you should post this...my best friend called me about an hour ago to tell me she had a baby girl today I asked her how big, how much did she weigh, etc. I asked what her name was and my friend said "we don't know yet".

Here in the UK you have something like 3 months to register your baby's name. Don't worry about it, it will come to you!

thanks...
i just have this gut instinct telling me to be okay with NOT having a name, that when we see her (and hopefully before we leave the hospital), but it will just come to me...
hopefully, my gut is right!!
