Re: Nameless babies at birth...??
My cousin doesn't even begin to think about names until he sees the baby after it is born.

Re: Nameless babies at birth...??
33 weeks and nameless over here!
With #1, we never had a boys name finalized. We opted to do the "decide when we see him" thing, but didn't need to since Ella popped out.
This time we're at a loss for boys & girls names...

Here in the UK you have something like 3 months to register your baby's name. Don't worry about it, it will come to you!
thanks...
i just have this gut instinct telling me to be okay with NOT having a name, that when we see her (and hopefully before we leave the hospital), but it will just come to me...
hopefully, my gut is right!!
Here in the US a baby has to leave the hospital with a name on his or her birth certificate, its part of our wonderful Homeland Security Policies
It'll come to you!

Re: Nameless babies at birth...??
We were so sure we were having a boy - name was totally ready.
Well she is a girl - we had talked about a few names but hadn't really decided. The OB said - "What's her name?" and DH said, "Um....Alexandra Celeste" and that was that.

If we have a girl, we don't have a name. My co worker had a hard time naming her girl too.

Re: Nameless babies at birth...??
My nephew wasn't named until the day he came home. They weren't aloud to leave until they filled out the paper work and they even told my sil that they had 30days or something to change there mind Anyhow they were torn about a name the whole pregnancy and they also wanted to wait to see what he looked like and even then they were unsure So I guess it does happen

Re: Nameless babies at birth...??
My bro and SIL did not have names for two of their three sons (#2 and #3) -they both got their names right before they left the hospital. The only reason #1 had a name was b/c he was Jr.

Re: Nameless babies at birth...??
I would say this is totally normal.
And even if you pick a name, it can change that day when you deliver. As happened to my mom! During the whole pregnancy, if I was to be born a girl (which I was) I was going to be named Nicole.
Delivery day, she has me, looks at me and says "Hello Jill". When I ask what happened, she said I came out like a Jill, not a Nicole.
I for SO long tried to figure that one out!

Re: Nameless babies at birth...??
With both pg, we only had a middle name figured out. DS#1 was named right after he was born, DS#2 didn't have a first name until 3 days later. DH and I couldn't agree on a name.

Re: Nameless babies at birth...??
My girlfriend decided on Ayla Jean for a girl... it was the only name they had that they agreed on. But right after she was born they decided she was NOT an Ayla Jean and they had NO backup!
They decided on Rylee Lyn the day they left the hospital!
