Re: Natural deodorant

Question for any of you - just curious, Do you use natural deodorant solely because of the lack of chemicals, or is it better than regular deodorant?
Lack of chemicals- I haven't found a natural deodorant that works as well as a regular one but I don't stink and I'm sparing myself the chemicals so it's a tradeoff that's worth it! Also, I used to get terrible razor burn under my arms before I started using the natural deodorant. Since then, no razor burn at all! It's amazing

I avoid chemicals in all my products. I developed hashimotos disease. It's well known you can get from an endocrine system disruption. I believe all my body products may have played a part.
Second my aunt had ductal breast cancer. She is braca negative. Her oncologist told her ONLY to use natural deodorant for the rest of her life. I used natural prior to this but it solidifies it for me.
And thirdly once you detox from you old deodorant you'll find you don't need such a strong deodorant.

Not to be TMI but this is something I've thought of converting to.. My underarms are soooooo itchy at times!! And I wonder if it's all the chemicals.
I'm too scared to make my own.

Jumping on the bandwagon. I wanted to wait until my current deodorant was finished.
I bought one from a brand called Earth Science. I'm a bit scared I just took a shower and am testing it overnight.
Anyone ever use this brand?

I had a huge issue with regular deodorant making my underarms really itchy! It started a few years ago. I tried to make my own, nothing really worked. I finally had to get the Tom's kind, which didn't make me itch, but didn't really work at all. Then I slowly transitioned back to regular deodorant, and was itchy under one pit, so I had to do one with Tom's, one with regular (I used degree regular strength). Such a stupid ordeal! lol. Now I'm using the Piper Wai and have no itchy pits and it works.

Natural deodorant
Day one.
I wouldn't say I smell like a goat but.. I'm no daisy.
Kind of disappointed. Is it normal to have to reapply?

Yes, this is what I use, and it's the best one I've tried! I had tried natural deodorants off and on (Toms, the thai salt crystal) and always went back to the aluminum stuff. For special occasions, I still use aluminum antiperspirant, but I'm sticking with the Earth Science brand for everyday use. I love the mint rosemary scent.

The Piper Wai seems to for me. So then I go back to regular deodorant for a week or so (no itchy pit anymore lol), then switch back and it works again. I do have to reapply if I'm going out in the evening.

Natural deodorant
I use Tom (lavender in the Winter) but it is not enough in the Summer. I have done milk magnesia (unflavored original) with essential oil (lavender) but it is not super easy to work with. Needs reapplying and you need to let your armpit dry after application as it's very liquid.

I make my own I went the DIY route after I tried lots of store made natural ones that didn't work. The homemade one works wonderfully.
Equal parts (about a cup each I guess): Coconut oil Baking soda Cornstarch
I often will add a little more coconut oil in the end to give it a smooth, creamy texture. I store it in a airtight glass container and a batch lasts a LONG time.
You could also Google other recipes.
Is this still working well for you? I was thinking of trying this myself since Toms is just not cutting it

Re: Natural deodorant
I have tried a bunch of them and find Schmidt's Deodorant to work the best for me. They have stick and jar in several scents or unscented. They have their own website where you can order Schmidt's . I've also found them sometimes in Marshall's and TJ Maxx for less than half the price. The website also will send you coupon codes if you register your email.
Marshall's and TJ Maxx will often have other natural deodorant brands if you want to give them a try.

I got the piper wai stick! It's great. Easier than the tub but sometimes I warm it on my armpit for a sec or two.
