Need advice about strollers and car seats

I was wondering if any of the BTDT moms have some advice on registering. I'm the first of my friends to get pregnant and am totally overwhelmed by the thought of registering.

How many car seats did you register for? Did you register for an infant seat and a convertible seat?

What about the travel system? Is it worth getting a travel system vs. separately buying a car seat and stroller?

How many strollers did you register for? Did you get a snap & go? Is the snap & go better than the travel system?

Sorry for the numerous questions, but I really appreciate all of your help.

Re: Need advice about strollers and car seats

I registered for two car seats-the graco snugride and a britax convertible car seat. I also registered for two strollers one being the snap n go. I absolutely loved the snap n go -it was convenient and extremely light-I used it when we traveled with DD when she was 3 months and 6 months. IMO it was so much easier than lugging a car seat and a full size stroller. I didn't register for a travel system b/c both of my SIL said they were bulky, heavy and just a PIA.

Re: Need advice about strollers and car seats

Brooke - I got the following -
1/ Graco Snugride
(and 3 bases total -me, DH & Grandma)
2/ 1 Britax Marathon but I wasn't thinking and should have registered for 2 b/c now I have to buy one for DH's car

Strollers
1/ Inglesina Zippy with carrycot for walks
2/ Snap N Go - NECESSITY IMO
3/ Maclaren Volo for later (umbrella)

in my opinion the travel systems are a PITA, but I know plenty of moms who like them

Thanks Jessee. You make a good point about the car seats. I was going to get 1 infant car seat and 2 bases b/c there will definitely be days when DH drops DC off and I pick DC up or vice versa. I figured I'd get 1 convertible seat, but it makes sense to get 1 for each car. Chat Icon

The Snap n Go is a must IMO, unless you live in the city and don't drive much. I got that and the Chicco KeyFit Infant carseat.

We have yet to buy a convertible, but I am thinking of the Britax Marathon. We just bought a stroller, and I got a Babyjogger city mini--love, love, love it! My only complaint is that the basket is small, but most of the light strollers have small baskets. Graco Metrolite is good too, but I thought it was a little big for our car (it's not very large).

If you really can't decide on a stroller, you might want to get the Snap n Go and wait a bit till you see how you will use it. I had a much better idea of what features I wanted after a couple months walking with DS.

Congratulations!

Re: Need advice about strollers and car seats

I registered for a travel system and never used it. I thought the graco was way too heavy and bulky.
i loved the snap n go with the graco infant car seat. so light and easy to use.
I registered for 2 convertible car seats both Britax Marathon (i have 2 cars).

good luck Chat Icon

I also registered for a light weight stroller the Chicco London which I used 24/7 once the baby was big enough.

We did exactly the same thing, same seats and a snap and go and a lighter weight stroller than a travel system.

I couldn't be happier.
