Need advice/questions re traveling w/a 5 month old

Hi
We're flying Southwest next month to Florida w/our DS. This is our first time traveling with him. He does not have his own seat..have some questions. Where do you check in his stroller? If you check it in at the gate since we have a travel system can we check the carseat with it at the gate? Also can recommend a stroller bag?

What about formula and bottles....how do you go about bringing bottles on the plane. Can I bring a tupperwear of formula or do the bottles have to be pre-made?

Also any other advice would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

yes you can check the stroller at the gate. Not sure about the car seat.

As for formula/bottles... i was told to bring only what you need for the flight. You can bring them made already or not. You cannot bring an ice pack.

I would also try to check in a little early and ask them for the window and the ailse. Most times the middle seat will be left empty and you can bring the carseat right on the plane.

I would ask about the carseat but you should try to bring it to the gate in case there are open seats on the plane. maybe they can relocate you next to an empty seat for the baby. it is much easier to have a seat for the baby, not to mention the safest place for them is in their own seat in a carseat.

We gate checked the stroller and car seat (the whole travel system). As for formula, I had 3 bottles and some solids ready in an insulated bottle bag. There was an ice pack in the bottle bag, but no one said anything to us. We bought additional formula at a supermarket in FL. At the time of our trip we didn't buy a stroller bag. I wish we had though because the stroller was a little wet when we got it back.

We went to BBB after our trip and bought a stroller bag there for future flights.
