Need advice: Should I change carriers to AT&T or Verizon?
I'm switching from TMobile in 2 months.
Can anyone tell me whatthe service is like with these providers?
I'm canceling TMobile b/c I don't get service in my apartment.
I'd really love any/all feedback

What about pricing? Anyone out there who has used BOTH carriers?

What kind of plan do you have right now? How much are you paying per month and what do you get for the price?

I'm in an old, grandfathered in plan...
I pay $49.99 and I get 1000 minutes, free nights/weekends, and 300 text messages.

To be quite honest with you, TMoblie is pretty much known for having the cheapest plans. I don't think you will get nearly 1000 minutes for that price with any other carrier.
I work for Sprint and the best deal you can get for around that price is 500 minutes. You get the unlimited nights and weekend. I also know a way to get a $59.99 plan with data, unlimited text, GPS and 500 minutes with unlimited N&W at 7pm.
But I think if you do switch to any carrier from that grandfather plan you will pay more.

I have Verizon and am very happy with the service and support. DH has AT&T and can say the same. Both customers with each for years.

I know I probably will have to pay more...but honestly it's worth it if I can actually make and receive calls in my apartment!

Something you may want to consider is trying the service before you commit to porting your number over from T-Mobile. Here's what I mean...
Every company has a certain return policy. I know with Sprint, you have 30 days. If you return and cancel within 30 days, you do not have to pay the activation fee or cancellation fee... just a prorated amount for the number of days you used the service. Check around with the other carriers and see if they have similar policies. You can sign up for service, take it home and see how it works for a few days and if you aren't satisfied with it... return it and cancel. If you do like it, go back to the company and have them port your number from T-Mobile.
The only catch to that is if you try this with several companies, they have to run your credit to set you up with service. So if you don't mind your credit being checked it is a good idea!

Re: Need advice: Should I change carriers to AT&T or Verizon?
I've had both and I prefer Verizon. Right now I'm with AT&T because I have a work phone and DH is with Verizon and his reception is so much better.
I would rate both equally for customer service in my experience.

Re: Need advice: Should I change carriers to AT&T or Verizon?
OK, one more comment from me and I promise to go away!
I know you aren't asking about Sprint, but that's the company I know so I will give you their information. With Sprint, you can get 900 anytime minutes, unlimited texting, unlimited nights and weekends at 7 and no roaming for $69.99. That is a closer amount of minutes to what you currently have.
I went to Verizon's web site and it seems the same plan with nights and weekends after 9 for them is $79.99.
And with AT&T the same plan with nights and weekend after 9 is $59.99.
I hope you find something that works better for you!!!

Re: Need advice: Should I change carriers to AT&T or Verizon?
We have Verizon. The only thing I don't like about it is the phone doesn't work outside of the country. I don't know if you travel a lot but if you do it could be an issue. The coverage is so much better though. I had T -Mobile beforehand and I couldn't use my phone at my job. With Verizon it is crystal clear!

I'm switching to ATT in July (when my sprint plan is up). I havent had any problems but I am going on DH's plan.
He likes ATT b/c of the roll over minutes.

Re: Need advice: Should I change carriers to AT&T or Verizon?
I LOVE at&t but that is only because I had problems with verizon. I had a new york plan and when I moved to md my mobile to mobile didn't count because I was out of the new york area. That was 3 years ago though so I think it's changed since then. I moved again to a non verizon covered area and was always out of network and had dead zones galore so I was able to get out of my contract. I've had AT&T since and couldn't be happier.

Love Verizon.
Almost always have a signal. Never roam (except when I was in St.Thomas, that was annoying).
They have awesome plans.

Verizon has the best service but horrible customer service. I don't know much about at&t ITA. We left Verizon b/c of their awful customer service. AT&T is a bit better in the way of customer service, and their signal is comparable to Verizon. The only place I used to lose my calls was when I crossed over the Cross Island Expy on the Grand central (infamous dead zone) and then again out in Smithtown getting off the Norther State. Other than that their service was consistent.
I have T-Mobile now and I love the C/S, but the actual service is getting pretty bad.... We will probably switch to AT&T when our contract is up in June.

Re: Need advice: Should I change carriers to AT&T or Verizon?
Definitely Verizon. I know many people with AT&T and they don't like the service but they want the iphone so they're stuck.
DH and I are on the family plan and we get a discount because of his job. You are able to check if you are available for a discount by filling out a form online.
