Need to vent, just so worried over newborn woes.
Hi, it's been a long time since I've posted. I just had a my second baby two months ago, and I'm a wreck. She is a bit fussy, and a horrible napper. Can't put her down most days and has some gas issues I'm addressing with the Ped.
The othe night I was by myself with the kids, and had a huge scare. The baby stopped breathing for a moment, and it took a bit to wake her. We called the Ped, and took her to the ER, and they basically laughed at me, and said your baby was in a deep sleep, and had a breath holding spell. Nothing at all to worry about, but I just cant stop thinking about how I thought I lost her in those moments when I was trying to wake her, and keep wondering if this would have been a SIDS case, if I weren't holding her. I feel alone in this since I was by myself when it happened, and DH can't "appreciate" what happened.
Since she s such a terrible napper, I fear she is going to fall into a deep sleep due to exhaustion...and not wake up.
I'm a mess, do i address these concerns with the Ped? My DH and everyone around me thinks I'm losing it. Anyone share some similar stories?
TIA.

OMG so scary. So sorry you had to go through that.
What about getting the angel care monitor? That might give you a piece of mind. Also what about a baby carrier?

OMG that is horrifying!!! I would def get the Angel Care monitor like the pp said. That would give me some piece of mind. I would definitely address my concerns with my pediatrician. Either way, if baby was in a deep sleep or legit stopped breathing, it's SCARY and your loved ones should understand that! YOU were he one that was there YOU are the Mommy and had the instinct. No ones knows what would've happened if you weren't there.. God forbid!

Re: Need to vent, just so worried over newborn woes.
My oldest DS was a preemie and had issues with forgetting to breath---he actually came home on an apnea monitor that would go off if he stopped breathing. And there were false alarms as well---all very very nerve wracking. I would get the angel care monitor if you can, I know I had a hard time sleeping and felt like an anxious mess most of the time, but knowing there was a monitor helped me. As far as naps, do you have a carrier or sling you can use? Both of my boys only fall asleep in the sling or the swing for a while. I always felt better when my youngest was in the sling bc he was close to me and I could still have my hands free to help my 2 year old. Hang in there, by all means speak to your ped about your fears
