New mommy needs help
My DS is 2 1/2 wks old and he refuses to sleep in his cradle. He will only sleep if I or DH is holding him. We never get to put him down. Today is DH's first day back at work so I am all by myself and losing my mind! DH and I have to take shifts sleeping and holding him. Is this normal? Will he start sleeping in his cradle or am I going to have to hold him forever?

Re: New mommy needs help
My DS was exactly like this. Do you have a sling you can put him in? This was wonderful for me because I could do stuff, but still "holding" him

Re: New mommy needs help
Do you mean at night or for naps? Do you have a swing? I would try that. The rocking motion is soothing for some babies.

Re: New mommy needs help
DD is like that and she will be 4 weeks on Tuesday. We hold her until she falls asleep but once we put her down in her bassinet she's up within 15 minutes crying.
We rotate the bouncy seat and her swing. Some like sleeping in their car seats too. It helps since she's a little more cradled in those. I agree with the sling also, my sister bought me one and I can't wait to use it. Good luck!

Re: New mommy needs help
My DD slept in her bassinet for a little while but now she absolutely hates it. She will only sleep at night if we put her in her carseat.

Re: New mommy needs help
DS was like this. He wanted to be held 24/7. I wish I had started using a sling or Baby Bjorn earlier. I kept trying to put him in the swing, bouncy seat and car seat/snap n go. Eventually he started to like the swing and he tolerated the bouncy seat (now, at almost 6 months old, he loves it). He became a lot more independent at 3 months.

Re: New mommy needs help
have you tried swaddling him tight? or using a sleep positioner? we also have this toy that makes soothing noises that seems to help calm dd down and eventually fall asleep.

Re: New mommy needs help
I would try the sleep positioner with the incline in the Basinett - if that doesn't work try the car seat. Maybe your baby doesn't like being on his back.

Re: New mommy needs help
You are not alone! My DD will be 4 weeks on Tuesday and I still can't get her to sleep flat on her back. At night, I can get her to sleep an hour max in the cosleeper before I end up holding her for the rest of the night.
I just keep trying new things every night because I have hope that something will work eventually!

Re: New mommy needs help
Eva slept in her carseat for the first few months ! I have heard on here that other mothers let them sleep in the swing ! Whatever they are comfortable in !

Re: New mommy needs help
We had the same issue, so we got a Pack n Play and she sleeps in the bassinet portion of that.
Try swaddling him first before you put him in. We just did that yesterday and my DD slept in her regular bassinet for the first time since she was born.
