I think the informational portion of your post should be added to the sticky at the top of the forum.
To the OP, as a curiosity and in no way meant to start a debate - you don't have to answer if you don't want to - did you read that stickied thread before you got Howard? If so, I think if Ron does decide to use your post as part of the stickied thread, I think you should elaborate on your frame of mind when you first read it, and what led you to the store anyway.
Again, NOT a drama stirring. But if there's some way to get the information through to people who are considering a purchase, that may help.
Hi, I actually read it after the fact, I was always of the mind set that "someone had to buy those puppymill dogs, so why not me" Now this experience has made me angry and want to do anything to stop them. If Ron wants to add it to the stickered thread, I can revamp it with more detail and more emotional detail to what it did to us, how I slept on a couch for over a week to watch him , and my husband was left alone in the bedroom :( it was hard but thank Goodness we have Howard and that he pulled through!.

Yes it was Selmers, they were very nice about the whole thing, but I will never step foot in that store again. We miss Charlotte!! Hope all is well
The conditions we saw the dogs in when in there, after the chinchilla incident, left us horrified. I even called the SPCA about it. They took a complaint but who knows.
Charlotte misses having neighbors! LOL!
On one side the people died and the house has been for sale forevvvver. On the other side it is like the people are dead because they NEVER leave the house. We have been here since August and I've NEVER seen them. I saw a car ONCE as the garage door was closing with it inside. 
We are moving in to our new place soon where Char will have lots of neighbors -- she has a few dogs on the left and a few dogs on the right (the next townhomes over) -- and then you guys are like, directly next to us so she could become friends with Howard and your other furbaby!

I should have known better than to shop there, I think I'll call spca as well.
That is so funny how you have no neighbors! I bet it has its perks ! Thats exciting you guys moving to the townhouse! We will be in our apartment another 7 months then the lease is up, and we hope to get a house in Northport. I'm glad all is well

You saved his life. I commend you for all your efforts and commitment to your pooch. I hope he is doing well and im sure he appreciates and loves his mommy and daddy for all they have done for him.

I also teared up when I was reading your story! I guarantee that little Howard will bring you guys years and years of happiness because of what you did for him! He will be so thankful and you will feel joy every time you see him enjoying his doggie life!

I was crying looking at him so sick, but it's amazing wht you did for him
And I am glad you walked into a Pet Store on this particular day.

He is so cute! I cant handle it!!! I am so glad you found him and were so dedicated to saving his life!!!!
Is sad because its not just puppies, we bought our cockatiel at a petstore, and after a month he got really really sick, he spend several days at the emergency vet. I had to give him medication twice a day for months. And it cost us a lot of money. The vet told us he got sick because of the way the pet store weaned him. It is so hard going through something like that! (my bird is my baby, he cuddles with me and talks to me and even follows me around. We joked that he was our apartment size dog) I cant understand why petstores would have conditions that could hurt the animals, they are not just a product off of an assembly line, they need special care!

Howard is very lucky to have you. Selmer's needs to be reported. I would contact the anti-puppy mill and anti-pet broker groups first and see if they cannot help. Many of them are trying to push class action suits against the mills that all these puppies come from, so even if Selmer's themselves do not get implicated, the groups are able to go to the source and get them shut down.

First of all, I wanna eat him up!!! Soooo cute
My first bulldog got pneumonia when he was about 1 year old. It was the scariest week of my life...he had to stay at the vet for 6 days. It was heartbreaking to leave him there on an i.v. looking so sad. I went there every morning before work and took him for a walk (just in front of the vet) while holding his i.v....i cried the whole time. But, he was a strong lil pup and recovered and is now 8 years old. I know exactly how you feel. I hope Howard feels better soon and just know that you were there to save him that day!

I had a similar situation when I purchased my first dog, Rocky. He was also very ill and had several hospital stays and surgery.
