newborn baby question- sleeping

Is this normal?

DD is 8 days old. The last 5 nights or so she has been giving us a long stretch of 5 or 6 hours.. for example, last night she had a bottle at 10 and didnt have another until 545. she woke up at 130 and we gave her the paci and she went back to sleep till 545..

Is this normal?

DS was up like CLOCKWORK every 3 hours for 6 or 8 weeks until he started to give us 5 hr stretches.

Looking to hear your thoughts/experiences.. I shouldnt wake her up should i?

Re: newborn baby question- sleeping

Normal - Alex used to wake up every 3 hours until she was a year old. Yael, on the other hand, started giving us 5 hour stretches around 10 days old, and 10-12 hour stretches starting at 5 weeks old.

As long as she's gaining nicely, having enough pee and poop diapers, let her sleep Chat Icon

DD too! People ask how I'm doing w/o sleep and I am embarrassed to tell them I'm getting more than I did in my 3rd trimester.

Let's count our blessings and not jinx it!!!

You are LUCKY! Enjoy it while it lasts! and I subscribe to the "never wake a sleeping baby" theory.

Are you BF? My ped said to wake DD up every 3 hrs or so if she doesn't wake up on her own for the first few weeks so, I never let her sleep longer than 4 hrs.

Re: newborn baby question- sleeping

Dd was 3 weeks early so I was told to wake her every 3 hours. She would sleep the day away if I let her. Usually she would eat and go right back to sleep. You can always try feeding her while she sleeps too.
