Newborn sleeping question
Hi all,
My DD is a few days short of 3 weeks old, and although she sleeps very well when being held, she is not happy at all sleeping in her bassinet/co-sleeper. We go back and forth using a sleep positioner, and I don't think it makes a huge difference. She'll sleep when being held, and often in her swing, but not in her bassinet. So...I'm not sleeping much. Any moms have tricks on how to get our babies to sleep in their bassinets?
TIA!

Re: Newborn sleeping question
We had the same issues with both my DDs. This time around, Eliza slept in her bouncy seat (while swaddled) uuntil she was about 5 weeks old. Then, We just put her down one night in the cosleeper- and she slept! I think it just takes time for them to get comfortable. Keep trying, eventually she'll get it.

Re: Newborn sleeping question
maybe try a tight swaddle...that might help...
and i know a lot of us on here, well, found that our babies were better sleepers on their bellies...emerson started belly sleep around the 3-4 week mark, and hannah around the 6 week mark....i know i know, im such a horrible mother, what with SIDS and all, but i tend not to believe the hype about a lot of stuff, and i did whats best for my family...you might not want to try it, btu if u do, there are no flames here for ya...

Re: Newborn sleeping question
I had the same problem in the beginning with the bassinet.
I had an older sleep positioner that was an incline wedge that had velcro pieces that came off...
I put the incline wedge alone under the thin mattress - worked like a charm. I still have it in her crib under her sheet at almost 5 months old.
I think she hated being flat...can you try something like that?

Re: Newborn sleeping question
The first couple of weeks, I would rock DD and let her fall asleep on me, wait a while until she was in a deep sleep and then quickly (it was hysterical to watch how quick i would do this..lol) transport her to the bassinet without waking her up. She would then sleep in the bassinet fine.
the trick is to move when they are in a really deep sleep, I tried several times when she wasn't, and she would wake up when I moved her.
I could never swaddle DD, she hated it from the moment we brought her home, so that wouldn't work for us.

Re: Newborn sleeping question
DD didnt like sleeping in her bassinet at night so I would be consistent - I would have her nap all day in the bassinet to get her used to it and eventually it worked and she didnt mind the bassinet.
I think what I did wrong was - holding her during the day for most of her naps. I couldnt get enough of her

Re: Newborn sleeping question
I don't have any advice just wanted to say we are having the same issue with my 6 week old baby boy,he just loves being held and cries not long after he is placed in his bassinet, so during the day he sleeps in his bouncy seat and at night we have the sleep positioner for the bed, but he is still up every 2 hours, he's always hungry since he always falls asleep during feedings
