Newborn flipping over to stomach in crib... sleep positioner question
Hi everyone, this is my first time posting on the parenting board! I'm a super paranoid new mommy and have a question and would love some input.
My baby is a week and two days old and I noticed a few days ago when I put her down in her crib she immediately rolled over to her side and then to my dismay onto her stomach. I was hoping it was a one time thing (because I've barely been able to sleep since I've been so worried), but she did it again at least twice last night. No matter what the second I put her down she is on her side, and while the rolling onto her stomach seems more rare, it does happen and since she is so little I am terrified of her suffocating.
My question is, I have read over and over that sleep positioners aren't recommended because of suffocation risk, but in a situation where my newborn is flipping aren't they safer than her landing on her face and not being able to move her head to the side. As it is I have literally nothing in my crib (because I was worried about suffocation) no bumpers, no blankets or anything, but it just seems like to me a positioner would be better than the risk of her landing on her face.
Does anyone have any experience with a newborn flipping over in the crib at this young of an age, and if you did, did you use a sleep positioner (and if so which one)
Sorry for the paranoid mommy question, I just have had how important back sleeping is drilled into my head and I'm so worried that something is going to happen.

Re: Newborn flipping over to stomach in crib... sleep positioner question
We tried a positioner when DS was born but he didn't like it. We ended up rolling up two receiving blankets and wedging them on either side of him, which worked. We only had to do it for a little while before he just started sleeping on his back.
But I had him in a co-sleeper (the ones that are similar to a bassinette) and I was up every hour or so to check on him so that's probably not a great help to you.
