News 12 reporting that the average LI property taxes are
10k. i was shocked to hear this.
eta: mine are little over 11k and i thought that was high

im not shocked.
Think of all those $5 million homes ther are on LI that pay $50K in taxes
Mine are $8600 w/out star, and I have a half acre.
eta: Just got my tax bill, they are now over $9K, only $8K with star

I'm not shocked. Mine went up to $12k this year without STAR (I just applied for next year) so that should bring me down to around $10,500 hopefully.
It isn't really the property taxes that are expensive, although they have gone up, it is the school taxes that are the most.

I am so glad mine are the average. We are just shy of $10,000. I know people who pay $24,000 for taxes in RVC

Mine were $7800 without STAR - $6800 with. But that's before the addition we added on the house. We were told they would go up about $1500.

Mine are $6400 w/o STAR. We have to apply for next year.
Taxes around here are absolutely insane.
I wonder if anything will ever be done about it.

Ours are 15K with 11K going to the school district & library. Should be interesting to see how much they increase when we do our 2nd story addition.
