They are just getting so out of control I dont know how people are going to be able to afford to live here if they keep going up. When we bought our house they were $9,500. The town reassessed us and they went up to a little over $12K.

When I bought my house in 1998 they were $3400
Now they are $7000 and we did NO additions or anything.
Hope nobody elses taxes double in 9 years.

Wow, seriously? DH and I talk sometimes about moving to your general area, but the train line isn't as good as ours, so DH doesn't want to be on that line. His day is long enough as is.

Mine our $1600 for a brand new home but in South Carolina!!!
Thats about what we pay in the UK, maybe its a little bit more, probably closer to $2k a year.

ours were up to almost 8,000 without STAR. Now we won our grievance so they are 6,800 before STAR.

i cant beleive how hi the taxes are in LI. Its insane. How the hell do people afford to live. I used to live in LI which is why we got out and our taxes were like 9k. My Uncle lives in NJ and his taxes are like 15k. Now we live in PA and our taxes are like 2k.

Housing prices are about the same here in VA as on LI but taxes are much more reasonable. 10K is nutty.
