Nikon D40 Users - How do I take pictures of lightening?
Is there a way or do I need to upgrade my camera? TIA

You can do it with any camera that can keep the shutter open for a long time. Make sure you are in a very dark area (to minimize the background light), hold the shutter open, and as soon as you see the lightning, close the shutter. You should get some nice full-streak lightning that way.
