note to all people that text message
Do not stop short in the store to text when a woman with 3 kids is behind you pushing a wagon
she WILL smash into and it will be YOUR fault so dont get all snotty afterwards
ok vent over
ps I do text also but if that happened I would realize that I should have kept moving

Ive seen this too!! Its super scarey. My dh said he was watching something on tv.. and this kid admitted to texting while driving.. and lost control of his car plowing down a woman and her toddler.. The woman survived but was critical injured.. the baby did not survive. It only takes a second to loose control of a car.. I hope this doesnt become a trend.

I know. It was just made illegal in Nassau, which is a great idea. How do they do it? I could never do two things at once. So dangerous and irresponsible  Some girl on News12 said she will keep doing it even though it's illegal It scares me.

I was watching jeopardy and one of the clues said that they padded some street poles in england because people were texting and walking. They walked right into poles because they weren't paying attention

I am totally for the whole cell phone invention...I love it and couldn't live without it now...but, I don't make calls while I'm driving unless I have an earpiece...and even then I don't really like to use it...I definitely DO NOT text while driving...it's sooooo dangerous and the only way these people are going to learn is by getting into an accident...however, it will probably be someone else they seriously injure...it's just so sad...
Making it illegal hardly changes anything...I see people driving and talking or texting ALL the time...
While I really couldn't live without a cell phone...there are many people who take them to the extreme and can't do anything without being on the phone...they shop in stores and go to the checkouts while on the phone, they use them in the movies, they talk while out to dinner...it's terrible and has made many people in my eyes become the RUDEST generation ever...

Totally agree- rude and clueless. The hands-free law is a joke- I see people all the time talking on their phones while driving and I'm sure lots of people text too.

I text on occasion, but not frequently (and never while driving or walking!) ... but I honestly have to say that I think texting and cell phones and blackberries have given many people an inflated sense of self-importance. The world will not end if you don't read your text message before you finish grocery shopping, nor will it end if you don't take that non-emergency phone call before you get off the train...
People are way too connected these days. (Okay, my vent over...)

up here by me, a young girl was killed in a car accident and her father seriously injured back in October when a woman texting in her car smashed into their car
It is absolutely disgusting and irresponsible to do that while driving!

We saw that jeopardy too! It is the Lampposts on East London's Brick Lane.

Oh I beleive you on that one and you can throw in VA too. We were driving from NY back home to FL yesterday and that is all i saw driving through VA. DH says no wonder why it took us 3 1/2 hours to go through the state. The traffic was horrendous because of people on thier cells talking and/or texting.  . It should be banned in all states along with talking on the cell. It will ease up the traffic if passed.

It's crazy how many people do this while driving. I can barely change the radio station without losing awareness of what I'm doing--I don't see how anyone considers this ok. The message just isn't that important.
I haven't been in Manhattan for a few months, and when I went recently, it was crazy how many people were walking around like zombies texting or reading their TREOs, blackberrys, whatever.
