He should adopt a pitbull mix.
although I bet he will end up with a little white fluffy puppy, who doesn't look like he came from a shelter

apparently there was a letter sent to Michelle Obama or something and she agreed the dog would be from a shelter or a rescue org. I read it two days ago. There was an organization that contacted her about it.
I also heard that one of their girls is allergic to dogs so they have to get a hypo allergenic breed. So far poodles and wheaten terriers were mentioned.
I'm sure there are rescue groups for both breeds.

Bide-A-Wee Shelter has a pup that is a possible candidate for Obama.
They're going to be on a morning show and Obama is going to pick from a few choices. :)
