Just wanted to see how my August mamas are doing...many of us are almost to the 3rd trimester!!! Where is everyone delivering...I wonder if any of us will be in the same hospital at the same time!
I am delivering at Good Samariton hospital in W. Islip. They are having a free parenting seminar May 19th at 10-am for people delivering there. Anyone else going????
The weather is getting nicer, trees and flowers are starting to bloom. Happiest spring ever!!!!

I'll be delivering at NS Manhasset, they were great last year so I'm really looking forward to going back there under happier circumstances!!
Is anyone else doing cord blood banking? If so which bank are you using?
Is everyone that's registering done? I have to wrap it up in the next week or so, shower invites are going out after Mother's day, eeek!!!! Feels like there is no time to get anything done!!!
Nope, no where near done actually! With registering or anything else baby related I'm finding it much harder to register just looking online- I prefer to see stuff in the stores and bed rest is really slowing down all of our plans. At this point it sounds like I will be on bed rest until at least 32 weeks so there's no way anything is getting done! Oh well, I guess I will be doing my best to roll with the punches and laugh- these babies are going to get here and NOTHING will be ready for them (except 2 parents who've thought nothing of them for the last 9+ years )

I'm delivering at Good Sam too! How did you find out about the free parenting seminar? Unfortunatley, DH and I will be away that weekend so we won't be able to attend. Hopefully they'll offer another one before August.

They offer them once a month. My OB gave me a book with all of Good Sam's classes and stuff so I called. I was busy for the one in April so they signed me up for the one in May. If you call they will put you on the list for June, although they likely won't have the June date until the May class has been held.
631-376-4444 I spoke with Karen Kaplan. She was super sweet.

We haven't had an empty weekend in forever -- trying desperately to get things done when I can but also enjoying getting out and doing stuff we won't be able to do or 'do easily' when the baby gets here.

I am not a LI lady, I am delivering in Westchester at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Sleepy Hollow, its literally 5 mins away from my job and 30 mins from home. My dr's name is Dr. Vanessa Dinnall, she's awesome I LOVE HER!!
So far we haven't even cleaned out the soon to be nursery!! I am soo busy finishing my graduate's program and this semester is killing me. It is almost over thank god and when it is I will have more time to do everything. We are redoing our 2nd fl guest bathroom because we want a new everything for the baby ....we are also redoing our patio deck this year... Many renovations coming up and I hope I have the patience to bare it all. Luckily DH is very helpful!

Re: ********* Official August 2013 Mommies *********
hey everyone!! I hope everyone is doing well!!
My shower was last Saturday! currently my family room is filled with gifts!! I have not put away anything yet!!! I did separate my 0-3 months clothing that i'm going to be washing soon!
My house is under construction as well! We just finished doing our half bathroom on the first floor and we are moving onto our guest bathroom upstairs. The baby's room hasn't been fixed yet because we need to refinish the wood floors. After that is done we are going to paint and start setting up. My entire nursery has arrived but we haven't set up because of the floors.
WE are hoping to have the floor fixed by next week so we can start setting up. I have to be out of my house for a couple of days because of the smell! but I can't wait to start decorating the nursery!!
2 more months to go! I can't believe how fast time flew by!

Re: ********* Official August 2013 Mommies *********
I'm in the same boat as you Gloria & FDNYWife, house under construction!! We are waiting on our contractor to finish up another house he's doing then he's coming over to us, I feel like he's always telling us "in two weeks" so I'm starting to feel like I'm Shelly Long in the movie Money Pit! ("two weeks, two weeks!"). They will be ripping our entire 2nd floor off of our house and boxing it out (extending the dormer), so it will be quite a project (especially since DH is finishing the interior!). Our bedroom is on the 1st floor so at least we'll have the baby in our room for a while when the work is getting finished......I haven't ordered any nursery furniture for that reason....but maybe by the end of July I will and we can hopefully have a nursery set up by the Fall
My shower is in 2 1/2 weeks, we'll be storing everything in our dining room and we have a small room off our living room that we'll use as an interim nursery for now, it's TINY but it will have to do.
DreamComeTrue- happy to hear you passed the 3 hour test!! I passed the 1 hour so I was just grateful I didn't have to take another test and fast for a longer amount of time!
As of my 30 week appt last Friday, baby is measuring 3 pds 9 oz and they were slightly concerned b/c I have too much amniotic fluid, they said they'll just watch it, so hopefully it corrects itself (they asked if I have gestational diabetes, so perhaps it's usually related to that??). My platelets are low (101) which can be related to lupus, so I have to see a hematologist this week b/c get this- I MAY NOT BE ALLOWED TO HAVE AN EPIDURAL if my # goes below 90! :gulp:! bring on the drug free labor AHHHH!! They may give me prednisone/steroids to increase my platelet count though, we'll see what the hematologist has to say. Oh and the baby is in a breech position again, I won't get too antsy about it yet since I know there's plenty of time for moving around, but omg that would add an extra layer of anxiety if I can't have an epidural and have to have a c-section! I would guess they HAVE to give me some kind of pain meds though since that's a major surgery!
How many August mommies are still team green? And if so what's your guess on what you're having? I'm definitely thinking boy, everyone keeps telling me boy since I'm carrying small and my mommy's intuition is saying boy so we'll see!

Hey ladies! DH and I are still team Most people are guessing boy, but my mom swears girl b/c I'm carrying the same way she carried me. I always default to saying "he/him" when referring to the baby, but I can't really say I feel one way or the other. I can't believe I'll be finding out in just 2 mos!
Last night DH and I finished painting the nursery. It was the first time we've ever painted together so it was alot of fun and it just makes it a little more special to us.
I think my shower is coming up soon. It's a total surprise, but DH told me to hurry up and order a dress so I ordered one last night. Fingers crossed that it fits.
And we finally signed up for the L&D class at Good Sam. We opted for the all day Sat rather than the every Tues for 5 wks.
It's really starting to sink in!

that's so funny I do the same thing, I find myself saying he and someone I talked to the other day was like "hey you said he" LOL, I told them I say it all the time but we really don't know!!
I think I finally decided on a dress to wear to my shower I just hope it still fits in 2 weeks!! (it's non-maternity!).
So exciting that a few of us are still team green! Can't wait to see what each of us has

Definitely stinks, I just keep telling myself it will be worthwhile having it done now instead of when the baby is older and crawling around and into everything!
Good luck at the next sono! Keep us posted how big the baby is!!

Re: ********* Official August 2013 Mommies *********
we are still very much team green. due up on august 1st.
most people think it's a boy.
had my shower last weekend.
still have a bunch of stuff to get -- but have most of the clothes washed and sorted.
we are pretty much decided on a name for if its a boy -- still struggling with the girl name.

doing okay!! staying inside our freezing cold office and happy I don't have to be out in the heat! Had a wedding on Saturday and overdid it with too much dancing, my left leg has been bothering me since!
Having a growth scan on Thursday can't wait!! Last one was almost 3 weeks ago so we'll see how much weight LO has put on since then

Not feeling so great with this heat and humidity, but trying to stay in the a/c and drink alot of water. LO has been moving around so much lately it's really impossible to stay comfortable in one spot for too long.
Going for a sono tonight and can't wait to see how big the baby is. 4 wks ago they told me 3 lbs 3 oz and with 7 more weeks to go I'm hoping LO is no more than 4-5 lbs.

Hey ladies,
Had a growth sono a few weeks back, and my fluid is already lower than they would like it to be!!! I have to go back on Thursday. Other than that I am feeling ok. We are moving the next two weekends and then I can finally start setting things up. Nothing like waiting until the very end!!

Did they say why your fluid is already low? I go for my growth sono in 2 weeks. We are close moving too and I can't take the stress of not having the baby's room ready!! I totally understand what you are feeling!

He didn't. He just said he would prefer it to be no lower than 12 and it was 10. He did mention that he wouldn't worry until it dropped below 6. I did some reading and it says to stay hydrated and not to be too active. Of course moving doesnt work well with don't be so active!!!
