I scheduled my GD test and I'm really nervous! I made DH take off of work to come with me. Do you get the results there or do you have to wait?
It's good to have someone with you just in case you feel woozy after (I didn't my first pregnancy but you never know -- my mom's coming with me since I have to bring DD too this time).
They send your blood off and you usually get the results within a week. Can be faster, but I know my OB is always backed up with results and stuff and half the time they didn't used to even call if something was negative. Now they have an automated system that phones you your results. It's kinda funny, but a lot faster! Although I hope if I have failed, someone would call rather than a machine telling me...

On an exciting note, I scheduled an appointment for a 3G/4G sonogram. I'm so excited to see such up and close pictures of our I also signed up for the package where you get a DVD of the sonogram so we can see LO move. Are we still going to plan a get together at some point?
That's great!! When are you going??
We are going to do one for an anniversary present (our 3rd anniversary is in 10 days) but we're not sure if we should schedule it for the second week in August when I'll be 30 weeks or go before our beach week closer to 28 weeks. I did read on the website for the place we're going that if you're heavier, going a little later is better. I'm definitely heavier (especially these days lol). But they also said any time between 26 and 32 weeks is good.
I don't have any more scheduled sonos at the OB so it's this or not see my little boy until he arrives... I just can't wait that long! We had a 28 w sono with DD because of a few little complications we had to look into so I feel like it's only fair to see this little guy again too!

I take mine at 27 w 6 d -- latest possible date -- on 7/20. Not very excited.
haha sandra, i'm doing mine at 28 weeks exactly (7/31)... i figure if my enjoyment of food is going to be ruined, i can ruin it for as little time as possible (well really that's just how my appointments fell but hey, it's true!!)
Mine is going to be at 28w1d. My doc never emphasized that being like the last possible time to do it! He just said come back in 3 weeks at my last appt.

Thanks for the info! My doctor's office is the type that would forget to call me or even let me know there's a machine to handle this sort of thing so I'll have to stay on top of them

it surprises me how many people think that if they eat well the days/weeks before, it will alter their results - or doctors that say that... the truth is that if you have GD, you have it, regardless of what you're eating.
Totally true!! It's like people want to "cheat" the test... but honestly if you have GD, it's so much better for you and your baby to know and take care of it and be monitored.
Still, I do hope I pass too. I passed during my first pregnancy by a ton, but this pregnancy has been entirely different so who knows. We're going to the beach for a week a week after my test, so we'll see if I have to change my diet completely for that and the rest of the pregnancy. Oddly, though, I've been super craving veggies and salad lately... so maybe that's a good sign? LOL or a bad one.
Good luck to you!!
I agree either you have GD or you don't. But if you fail the 1hr by a point or two you'll have to take the 3hr. So I think it's just to prevent false positives for the 1hr.

I felt 100% fine when I took mine the first pregnancy. Hope you'll be ok! 60 miles is a long drive to work!!! Do you do that all the time?? How late into your pregnancy are you working?

Hello ladies!
Wanted to wish everybody luck on their GD tests - I still have another two weeks till mine. I hope i feel ok after it because I will be going solo. I guess i'll bring some crackers or something in case i need something to soak up that sugar
I'm feeling alright - though today, Baby's moving a lot today (he's usually fairly calm / quiet) and the kicks are a little uncomfortable. Still, it's fun to feel them

hi hi
i'm doing ok - freaking out a bit over how life will change once Baby arrives but i suppose that's normal.
huge belly is totally normal! and 19 pounds isn't that much considering you're growing a person in there! don't let other people scare you!

I'm up closer to 25 lbs but it has been leveling off this week FINALLY. I'm giant and I don't care!!! As long as the baby's healthy that's all that matters!
Today's our 3rd anniversary. We booked a 3D sono for Friday to celebrate and see this little guy again. We also plan to decide if the name we've been throwing around a lot will stick to him once we see him.
GD screening is Friday, along with 28 w appointment. That's at 9:30 then the 3D sono is at 12:30. DH is taking a long lunch from work so we can go. I'm so excited! Otherwise we'd have to wait until he's here to see him since I get no more sonos.

Makes sense! I won't know until next week if I have GD (or need to go in for the 3 hour) since my screening is Friday. It's hard not to get down about weight. I'm only 5 lbs less now than I was when DD was born. But I started this pg 10 lbs heavier so it does make sense.
Thanks! I'll hopefully get a good pic to share!

Hi ladies, hope everyone is doing well with their GD tests! I had mine on Friday and still haven't heard back from the dr office. Should I assume that means I'm fine? SIL said that they would have called right away if I did have it so I think I'm in the clear.

Hmm my doctor's office tells you if you passed or failed the same day. If you fail they immediately start the 3 hour test. I took my GD test yesterday and passed! I was so nervous. I have to say that the appt yesterday was not that much fun. They used me as a human pin cushion and I didn't appreciate it.

I failed my 1hr glucose test by a good amount. I was so sure I'd fail the 3hr since I'm plus size. But luckily I passed!! The doctor said I'm sensitive to sugar since I failed the first test and I'm at risk of a larger baby. So I'll have to watch my sweet tooth. Good luck to anyone taking the test. I've found some good resources on GD and GD testing if anyone wants, FM me.

With my first, they didn't tell me for a whole week. I had to keep calling to bug them about it. It was annoying. This time, I don't want to know lol.

Took my GT test today. They said I could call for results tomorrow!
It went pretty well, all things considered. I was sooooo nervous they wouldn't be able to find a vein since I wasn't hydrated, but the nurse did very well with it. What a relief.
Fingers crossed for everyone awaiting results!!
