Oh dear, looks like I missed Abby's first birthday party...
...why? because I put "2008" on her invitation. I just got them yesterday. Can I get a collective "Oh Crap!"? I contacted the Yahoo seller who I bought them from and she is giving me a price break on the reprint. Im such a dope!

I know the feeling. I messed up DD's Baptism invitations, which were late as it was. I had to have them reprinted and rushed. Blah. What can you do...

She gave me ample opportunity to make corrections and frankly I do not have the time to fight it out. These need to get in the mail by next Monday.

As someone that does custom stationery for a living it is NOT the stationer's job to "catch that" It is the clients responsibility to verify everything is correct when they sign off on their proof.
I look at HUNDREDS of proofs a day for DESIGN issues, its not my respnsibility to make sure everything is spelled and dated correctly...
TO the OP, that was kind of her to offer a discount on a reprint. I put down 1999 when writing a check last week!!

That stinks, Leslie! You are probably used to writing her birth date as 2008! I hope you get them out on time. It was nice of the vendor to give you a discount!

I am not saying it is her job but come on. As you are typing in 2008, you don't think to yourself that it is not right.

OMG, I did the same thing and not even the printer noticed.
I had to suck it up, make the changes and pay to have them reprinted.
Lucky you got a price break!!!!

Nah, I can't deal with the parking lot sometimes. I feel lazy lately. The price break is rather considerable. I'm pretty appreciative. And yes, I am used to writing 2008 when it comes to her.

NOPE... I usually COPY and PASTE what the client sends me then format it from there so that everything appears EXACTLY as the client sends it. When you are looking at multiple files a day you don't "see" things like that. I am looking to make sure everything is laid out appropriately and the design works. Not wording. I'm not an editor I'm a designer.

I actually agreee with you on that one. I screwed up. I deal with the consequences. Fortunately, I have only been asked to pay about 1/3 of the price for the reprint. I think that is rather generous.

WOw that is very generous. She is probably doing them at a little bit above cost. I Harass my brides and clients to the EXTREME to make sure they REALLY look at their proofs before they sign off. Knock on wood We have yet to have any major issues!

Re: Oh dear, looks like I missed Abby's first birthday party...
The way I look at things is that I don't have enough time in the day to argue, fight, and go looking for other options. My time is worth more than that.
I had a brain fart - happens all the time lately - along with the real ones which, as always, are just as funny but not as costly as the one in the OP.

Re: Oh dear, looks like I missed Abby's first birthday party...
Oh boy, glad it all worked out though!
When I ordered DS's Baptism invitations from Storkie Express, I made a slight error on the proof and they contacted me to inquire about it LOL! First I felt like a complete dope and then I was beyond appreciative that they did that. So it is not THEIR job, but I was beyond thankful and will order from them again in the future in a heartbeat.
