Re: Oh dear, looks like I missed Abby's first birthday party...

I did something similar on my wedding invitations. I forgot to put DH's last name on there.Chat Icon Oops! I had to have them reprinted and was given a 20% discount on them. I was very appreciative.

No offense but why didn't she catch that??????? She should give you them for freeChat Icon

As someone that does custom stationery for a living it is NOT the stationer's job to "catch that" It is the clients responsibility to verify everything is correct when they sign off on their proof.

I look at HUNDREDS of proofs a day for DESIGN issues, its not my respnsibility to make sure everything is spelled and dated correctly...

TO the OP, that was kind of her to offer a discount on a reprint. I put down 1999 when writing a check last week!!Chat Icon

I am not saying it is her job but come on. As you are typing in 2008, you don't think to yourself that it is not right.

NOPE... I usually COPY and PASTE what the client sends me then format it from there so that everything appears EXACTLY as the client sends it. When you are looking at multiple files a day you don't "see" things like that. I am looking to make sure everything is laid out appropriately and the design works. Not wording. I'm not an editor I'm a designer.

Agreed ...my SIL does this as well.
She couldnt possibly "proofread" what everyone sends in. Once you sign off thats it. BUT I do think its incredibly nice of her to offer a discount since she does sell them above her cost anyhow. In the end she is probably breaking even or close to it to keep you happy. Glad things worked outChat Icon

This is exactly what I was going to say! I don't get why she did not proof them before sending them out?? Good luck! I hope she decides to re-do them for free!

I feel like the seller should have picked up on that and called you and said "are you sure you want 2008 on here!?"

As someone who does invites as well, I would take it as partially my error if I made a mistake like that.

I was just going to say the same thing!

She gave me ample opportunity to make corrections and frankly I do not have the time to fight it out. These need to get in the mail by next Monday.

Nah - just email everyone. Chat Icon

I did that with DS's birthday invite this year and nobody even noticed except DH who had to point it out to me.

I wasn't looking to get something for nothing. I was hoping for the best. I simply found it amusing how I made the error and the money part of it wasn't the issue.

Don't feel bad - my SIL did that for my twin nephews 1st birthday invite. She marked down the party for 2008, so we all just teased her at the party that it was 2009!Chat Icon

only you, leslie Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

that is generous of her to get a discount. it's never the printer's job to proofread unless you specifically pay them to do that.

how many store signs do you read that spell "grocery, stationEry (they always spell it stationAry, etc" incorrectly? i always notice it and laugh. but it's not the sign maker's job to proofread, just print.

i think you should send them out anyway. i guarantee you'd only have a few eagle eyes who would actually notice!

Oh L, that is terrible. Glad it's working out though, but how frustrating.
