Chat Icon This is what happens when people bring posts from over there here. Why was it necessary? This happens almost every time. It's not like the original post here was to discuss a debate or something.

No, you are right.

It was merely me venting.

It was not necessary at all.

But I did it anyway b/c I can.

I would discuss it further but the weekend is coming and I need to get to the Butcher. Any good wife knows that the best cold cuts for catering to your DH for the weekend can be bought on Fridays around 5pm... So, I have to go get in line... For me, the measure of a woman's worth is all about her ability to produce one heck of a "spread" of Boar's Head products.

Vent away but it should be pretty obvious that the girls there read the posts here as most of us do theirs.

LIFs past does not prove strong when it comes to cross posting. The book could have been its own post, and yes that would have been a great discussion and debate. But I can understand the girls over on LIW feeling like they were being made fun of or bashed or whatever.

I do see what you mean, and I know the history is not that great, but the posts were really more geared toward what the book said and not the LIW poster(s).Chat Icon

When there is cross posting yes.

Bride-to-be, just recently a bride or for other reasons, I think people do go over there. Not everyone, but some yes.

Again, I think it is insulting to women that someone thinks they need a reference book to have a happy marriage.

I think that marriage is partnership and one person reading a book isn't going to solve all the problems. If there are problems, then BOTH people have to work interactively to solve them.

actually, I try to do this. b/c I KNOW that I am not myself and I almost always say something I don't mean b/c or hormonal shifts.

Re: Oh ladies- I can't- I just CAN'T!!

ok, i guess i fall into a happy medium with this topic.

i was raised with "you keep your man happy...or some other woman will". with that said, i dont baby my DH in any way nor am i completely submissive. however, i do my "wifely" duties as i was raised....cooking, cleaning, ironing, making the bed, etc...and i know i've read TONS of girls on here that do these things too. i treat my DH as a king (and he tells me everyday that i am the queen of his heart) and the huge respect, love, and admiration we have for one another has kept us together for almost 12 years now. so we gotta be doing something right. does this mean i'm not liberated and cant think on my own. absolutely not! but when my DH says "babe, i'm hungry"...damn straight i go into the kitchen and make him a sandwich if he comes home from work tired.

we may not all believe in the theory in the same way, but i believe we're all practicing it in some way, shape, or form.

feel free to bash, but this is how we were raised...to each their own i suppose.

Re: Oh ladies- I can't- I just CAN'T!!

you know what...this is dumb.

I can tell you this, one of my favorite missions in life is to keep my husband happy.

I love to cook for him and get him things and be a freak in the bed and can't wait to give him beautiful children.

the THING that is awesome about that is that HE is the same.

he LOVES to see me happy. he loves to let me be free and have fun. he loves that I go out at night with friends and THEN come home and get him dineer...b/c I can do it...b/c I WANT to do it.

b/c YES, I did marry him in part for us to take care of each other. and if THAT means getting him the BEST cold cuts, why wouldn't I?

the problem with 'feminism" is that some women take the "old school" mentality and TRASH it...so that mark of a :strong" woman is to tell your man to stuff it...or get his own beer. that is not the answer either.

at least not for me. when I need help, I ask for it. and I usually get it. when I need a break, I get it gladly.

I go way above and beyond for him and I am proud to do so.

Re: Oh ladies- I can't- I just CAN'T!!

OK, after reading through both threads and reading everything, I am cracking up.

I am also wondering where I stand in the whole mess of this? I am a female working in a predominantly male field. DH is a male working in a predominantly female field. I am not home for 12 hours a day, so instead of nagging DH (who is not home the same 12 hours a day)to help me clean up around the place, I hired a cleaning lady to come every two weeks. I cook, sometimes, or else we go out to eat. So, am I destined to be a horrible wife?

I read that post on LIW, and don't really agree with the methods, but I thought THIS post was particularly nasty. Just because some people choose to follow that method or live that way, as ridiculous as anyone else may see it, you don't need to bash the individuals. Bash the book, the method, but to say you can't deal with those women, I don't know. Seems kind of catty.

You know what? Next time I have something to say that I feel passionate about - I am going to FM you two and ask you to speak for me. Very well said - Thank you for taking the time to post it because you both basically said what I was attempting to but failing at miserably because I knew it wouldn't be accepted anyway.

I was also raised this way - and in my family it works. I can't wait to "take care" of my husband who adores me.
