Re: Okay - so we all know money is tight...
Carters outlet had "clothes" that snapped up pants/shirt in fleece for $6. The PJs were $10....um, no brainer there
I don't like the one piece for my DS - he's almost 2 but for PJs they are fine.

Re: Okay - so we all know money is tight...
I do a lot of what has already been posted. Was using Up & Up Diapers until DS began to pee through them so now we have to buy Huggies. But, we use Up & Up wiped and I buy as much Target brand items as I can find (food, hygiene products, medicine, etc).
For my makeup, I buy it at Bed Bath and Beyond with a $5 coupon off. I go with a bunch of them and buy what I need all at once. It saves me a ton. My face powder that is normall $9 at Target will only cost me $4 at BBB.
I buy my milk at Sam's club b/c it's almost $2 cheaper.
I try to cut coupons when I can and go to stores (King Kullen) that does double coupons. Somtimes Stop N Shop will do doubles from time to time.
We try not to eat out as much as we did. When we want to get together with our friends we will have them over to our house or we will go to their house and cook dinner together. So much cheaper.

Re: Okay - so we all know money is tight...
I used to be a name brand snob, but now I am all for store brands, esp. like the Target Up brand! LOVE their sensitive wipes, just as good as Pampers Sensitive, which we've been using for DD since birth. DD has very sensitive skin, so far Huggies works great, but I might start experimenting Parent's Choice or Target brand soon...
ETA: I've also become a coupon maniac

Re: Okay - so we all know money is tight...
- Our biggest waste of money is when we order out so we stopped doing this as much.
- Continue to buy diapers, milk, wipes and apple juice at Costco
- Use our CVS rewards towards diapers and formula when on sale. (sometimes we get take $10 off a $40 purchase.
- I will be taking the pictures for our Holiday cards (can't afford professional pics) and using Costco for the printing.
- I buy my chicken cutlets at Best Yet. They are always $1.99 lb.
- Instead of boars head brand deli meats I'll buy store kind when they're good. I think pathmark has really good turkey for cheap.
- I save coupons like crazy and go through the weekly circulars of all the stores to save more on things I need.
- We're also cutting down our cable package. I believe I'm still able to get cartoon networks with just the family package.
- Taco dinners, rice dinners and pasta are pretty cheap dinners that I make.
- I buy frozen vegetables. I always end up throwing the fresh ones out. I just never get a chance to sometimes cook them.
- Bananas at Best Yet are always cheap too, they are about 65 cents a pound.
- DH and I are also not doing gifts for eachother this year.
Just want to add the Circo onesies are great. I was amazed at their quality. After a wash they still look new. I hate gerber onesies.

Re: Okay - so we all know money is tight...
DS is 15 wks old and I've never bought diapers or formula without coupons or checks. I often stack the coupons at BJs.
IMO, the key is to plan ahead. I buy 4 containers of formula at a time. Not only do I always have it on hand, it also stops me from making multiple BJs trips and spending more money on other things. I buy the diapers by the huge case at BJs too. If he outgrows the size before I'm able to open the extra case I have on hand, BJs will take them back for store credit, no receipt necessary.
Ebay for brand name things that I realllly want for him, but don't want to pay retail. I got a brand new pair of Gingerbread Man Robeez, tags attached, in the packaging, for $4.25.
I've never purchased a full price piece of clothing. I use wow-coupons.com for printable retail coupons and do a lot of outlet shopping. (babygap, old navy, gymboree, childrens place and carters are all @ Deer Park outlets). Carters are cheaper at Kohls and Costco than they are at the outlet, unless they're on clearance.
I buy PJs at Kohls - they're $5.40 when they're on sale and then I use a 15-30% off coupon on top of that. They're cotton and hold up well AND they have adorable characters on the feetsies.
I returned a lot of registry items at 2 and 3mos post-partum because I never used them. As long as BBB carries the item, they'll take it back for store credit. Use the store credit to purchase a gift card, and their GCs are good at Bed Bath & Beyond and Harmon, too.

BJs is great for the organic whole milk
I agree with this. I buy all the organic milk there I think it's 2.99. The land o lakes (not generic I know but) fat free half and half is cheap there too.
I also use BJ wipes. They always have coupons.

I also use a lot of target brand stuff. I love the baby wash instead of the J&J.
If you have a TRU rewards card, every 9th case of diapers is free!
I am also going to start using my crock pot again! That meal will last 4-6 meals!

I do the same. Sit down, strategize and then shop. They key is to shop by yourself if you can. Otherwise its harder to stick to the list and plan!

I'll start with no experience yet, but my sister raves about Target brand diapers.
Someone gave me a case, and I have been using them, and have been pleasantly surprised. I would definately buy them again.

Re: Okay - so we all know money is tight...
We buy everything on sale with regards to supplies for the boys. I'll comparison shop for diapers, wipes, etc.
I filter water at home and refill a jug for Ethan's formula (he's on powder).
I'm just now starting to make my own baby food.
I've found that stores like Big Lots and WalMart are MUCH cheaper for toys.
I search online for coupon codes and share coupons with other Mom's.
As for things for DH and myself, I apply the same principles and shop mostly online and/or only during sales.
I stock up on items I know we'll need when they are on sale.
When we're done with certain things for the kids, we sell certain things and donate the rest.

Re: Okay - so we all know money is tight...
Target's Circo brand clothing washes and wear well.
Kohl's Jumping Beans clothing line is great. Always check for coupons in Sunday's paper or coupon codes online.
I buy the smart price detergent from Pathmark. It's on sale sometimes for 2.99 and it smells good (the purple cap). I used to buy the Tide with Fabreeze and spend $$$. Not worth it.
I carry a mini coupon holder and clip coupons every weekend.
I'm going to try Target diapers!

Re: Okay - so we all know money is tight...
I believe the target pampers are 13.99 (size 3, 96 ct) and I always have a dollar coupon off. So $12.99 with a coupon. We bought them for the first time and they are great. We use to buy huggies and Costco, but these are so much cheaper by almost half.
I belong to dealseakingmom blog. I get great ideas to buy things on the cheap. My latest score is the TAG Jr. reading system on sale at Target for $28.99. Target had a $5 coupon and I got a $10 coupon from the blog. Total paid $13.99. I also use the kohl gift card that they send in the mail. I go buy jumping bean stuff (2 for 10) and pay nothing. Yesterday I got two frames forom kohls. Again I paid nothing.
