OMG, I HATE cablevision
my entire service was down this morning for at least a few hours. TV, Phone, internet & my home alarm was going off the wall because we had no dial tone. I had SO MUCH stuff to do online this morning & I got NOTHING done because it was down from about 8:30 on. And even more annoying, I was calling them ALL morning to just get a busy signal.
They suck so bad, I can't wait for FIOS!!!!!

me, too! my TV was "Searching for Cable Signal" no matter how many times I reset it...Ugh. I couldn't watch Jodie and Ron on Fox!

I am getting Fios on Friday! :)
I am not a fan of Cablevision because when I called to see if they would reduce my cost for the 3 services I have, i was told no. I told them that I was considering switching to Verizon and the girl literally snorted in my ear and told me 'good luck with that then'.
Having said that, I have had few problems with the service. But I am glad to get rid of the VOIP because I don't use a cell phone and when the modem is down I have NOTHING.
So when Verizon came knocking last week, I got myself hooked up!

OMG...I was wondering what was happening this morning. My TV would list the show on the bottom of the television screen but there was no picture.
Hopefully it's been fixed.

I was VPN'd into my laptop all day. No problem on my end. Thank god. A day without LIF would be a miserable day.

Fios signing up a lot of areas now, Bayport, Sayville and a few others. I can't wait either.

PS... Cablevision pays you 200.00 to switch back.

I've had a few problems with Cablevision and although it can be frustrating I will never go to Verizon.
They reduced my bill and gave me a free dvr box because I threatened to leave.
They connect you with the retension department and you can wheel and deal.
Sorry your service was down.

I have to say that I have had cablevision for 12 years and there is rarely a problem with it going out. I did see it this morning but it was fine by the time I came home for lunch.

You shouldn't hate to say it! I am sure there are plenty of people who dislike Verizon - just like there are plenty of folks that dislike Cablevision.
The contract cancellation with Verizon is only 100 dollars (and they give you a $50 gas card and a $100 gift card to Target when you sign up) so I am not worried about cancelling my service with them if I am not happy.
But I have not been happy with Cablevision for a while. Anytime that I have needed to contact them I have been met with extremely long wait times and very often with rude customer service. They have offered me credits that never materialized and the one time I needed something fixed I had to wait for service to be in my area before they could get my PHONE up and running again. If nothing else I will be ECSTATIC to be done with VOIP at least for a short time!
I have heard a few bad things about both Optimum and Verizon. I have also heard some stellar reports from some Verizon folks.. so I figure nothing ventured nothing gained!

We were scheduled for Verizon to be hooked up on the 15th. We needed to change our appointment. Scott was on the phone for about 30 minutes and had to speak to 5 different people just to change the date. By the time he got the 5th person, he just canceled altogether.

I just changed my install date on-line. No waiting, no talking, no problems.
Verizon is a huge corporation, as is Cablevision, so you will always have good and bad people on the other side of the phone. You will always have good and bad installers. There is no "great" company. I have FiOS now, and so far, no complaints. I'm just happy that there is a serious competitor to Cablevision for Internet and TV service (We've had DishNetwork for years). Cablevision has made some significant improvements ever since the satellite TV companies came around. They finally realized that they aren't a monopoly that can do whatever they want. Now they have to listen to the consumers. Competition is good for us, whichever provider you choose.

I just looked at the FIOS site and they have like 6 HD channels. Of course one of the 6 I have been begging Cablevision to get.  I will stick with my provider untill either they get the channel I want or FIOS has more to offer.

omg i hope all is ok and no one was hurt! Life happens people and yes i hate cablevision also, i have had my fair share of problems with them but there was a FIRE it could happen to any one of the cable companies out there. ETS: I also had no service this morning

This is why we have Direct TV.
I know people who don't like satellite because of reception problems but we have had it for over 5 years and LOVE it. They have a good selection of HD channels and adding more next month!
Anytime I've had installation problems (a nightmare when we moved) they have given me something.
I got 6 mths of HBO, Stars, Cinimax & Shotime for free + $25.00 per month credit for 6 months.
I've always had problems with Cablevisions equipment, replacing it, adding boxes, and most recently modem problems @ my grandmothers house where I was on the phone for over an hour to get it working again!.
