Your situation is the exact reason why we switched back to verizon, and we don't even have the Fios yet. We have been using DirecTv. Much better service all around.
One time my service was out for the better part of 3 days. I asked for a pro-rated bill, since I could not use anything...No TV, internet, phone.....so they actually had the brass ones to tell me I already got a discounted price with the bundle & they could not give me a better "deal." Um, I was not looking for a deal, just to not pay for the 3 days I had no service.

Cablevision = rude customer service.
For real.
PLus, we had new lines run at our new house in May. The lines are lying on the ground outside. DH ran it over withthe lawnmower. On the ground.

Got Fios yesterday. So far it has been amazing. My computer is flying and my television is crystal clear. And no static on my phone.
Fingers crossed that it keeps on being this good for us!

I just looked at the FIOS site and they have like 6 HD channels. Of course one of the 6 I have been begging Cablevision to get.  I will stick with my provider untill either they get the channel I want or FIOS has more to offer.
They have 28 high-definition (HD) channels..

I have FIOS HD DVR on two tvs here. I love it. Only had 1 problem but I think my dad actually caused it, called the automated system and it reset my tv again within minutes.

Directv is just as bad! i wish we could all go back to the old school cable w/ the long wire connecting to the channel changer. The only problems then were not tripping over that long cord.

LOL I love to tell my kids about they "technology" we had when we were kids.
I grew up in the Port Jefferson area & it was really rural in the 70's. We didn't get cable until 1986, I was already 16!
Before that we watched chanel 5, very snowy & channel 8 which was a Conneticut station
My Dad lived in North Babylon & he got cable years before, with the old clicker box on the cord. I LOVED going to his house on Saturdays to watch MTV!!!!

wow, never realized port jeff was so rural in the 70's. the cord was great , we never lost the remote.

And this is why I have DirecTV...I have had no problems with it...maybe in the 4.5 years I've had it I've lost the signal less than 10 times and not for a long period of time, maybe 10 minutes.
Oh yeah, I also have it so I can have NFL Sunday Ticket and watch my Colts play!!
