Will he get unemployment while he looks for something else?
He cant bc he will continue to work his pt job full time until he finds a full time job. Which I guess is better then nothing but still makes me want to throw up! Ive never been in this vulnerable kind of position with a child. Its not fair to her.

He has a BA in human relations and a Masters in business/healthcare. he has done alot of case work/quality assurance type jobs. But to tell you the truth...if he collects cans I would be more then happy...I am so upset right now.any jobs for can collectors

Just want to offer it will be ok somehow. My DH lost his job a month ago and i am on maternity leave til' september. totally scary and totally sux....but there has to be a reason i keep saying and i hope that it works out for the better. again, all the best to you both! it will work out!

Paulette I'm sooooo sorry you guys are going through this. My DH's job just laid off a ton of people too. It's sooooo scary out there.
The ladies gave some great advice - give him the support he needs, I'm sure he's motivated to find something to support you and Gilly!!! We're here if you need to talk.

Oh geez Paulette, I am so very sorry about this. First of all, you need to be there for DH. Men have this sense of needing to take care of their families, so he must already feel terrible. He doesn't need to be fielding 10,000 questions about what he plans on doing. Tonight, be there for him. He needs support right now.
Take some time to think, over the next few days, what you can do. I'd suggest to go to unemployment immediately. If you have insurance through him, check out Healthy NY. I hope he get s good severence package.

so true, Kelly - I have to admit I was not that supportive when DH was laid off - especially right before we got married - and DEFINITELY when I discovered I was pregnant....
The problem is, you both have fears and anxiety and its hard to come to each other with them now - so I wish you alot of luck...
I will say that I know everything happens for a reason, its just hard to see it and you want that reason to show come already!!!!

When I was laid off I still worked part-time jobs and was able to collect unemployment. FOr instance: If unemployment gives you X amount of money per week and he makes Y at his part time jobs, then unemployment will give X-Y.

I totally feel for you. I just got laid off myself. And in our case, I am the main provider. (My DH is self-employed and it is a very new business.)

I am so sorry. I know this is scary. But as PP said, this hits men a lot harder than women, so be supportive of him.
These things have a way of working out. I got laid off last March. I had a feeling it was coming, so I already started looking. I ended up finding a job with a lot more $$. I know it doesn't seem like it now, but maybe its for the best.

Thanks for all the advice
Where do I begin to look?
I mean I stayed up until 1AM emailing his resumes to places on careerbuilders. I dont know what other sites to use. Is there any major companies out there I should be faxing it to? Someone mentioned to me computer associates. I just cant believe this happened.
