OMG....so overwhelmed....just want to cry....(vent)
Just venting for those who can relate. I'm switching grades (6th to kindergarten) and schools. I went in today and feel like I got nothing accomplished. The room I'm in was originally a 1st grade room and I feel too small for Kindergarten. All the desks they gave me are not the same and some are too big for a 5 year old. I have a ton of books that were thrown in 15 different boxes / randomly and don't even know where to start.
The teacher in there before me left all her bulletin boards up (not sure if I should leave them or put up my own for what I had planned. To top it all off....some of the teachers were not very nice...I tried introducing myself and some literally looked at me like I had two heads and didn't respond! The secretary said they were not very happy knowing a kindergarten class will be in the same hallway as the first grade.. I'm going back on Wednesday.....I know I'll get through it...just wanted to vent.  Thanks for listening.

going from 6-K seems overwhelming enough!!
I started my current school while they were working without a contract and everyone seemed "mean" in the beginning. But if you can find one person to help you along, you'll be able to break down those facades before long!

Everything will fall into place. I think it's good that the previous teacher left up the bulletin boards. What a time saver! You can just leave the paper and border up and put your own ideas on them. You can change them eventually. Sometimes you can fix the desks yourself (like you don't have enough to worry about!). I think you just need a screwdriver and then you can adjust the height-or ask the custodian to help.
I have changed my classroom 7 times in 9 years. When I see my new room and I'm too hot, overwhelmed, or cranky I take a few pics with my phone. Then, I sit at home and draw out some plans to get the basic arrangement of how I want it.
It will get better!

If the bulletin board paper works for you, keep it! They are such a pain to do. Sorry the other the other teachers were rude. I don't get teachers sometimes.... where does the "do unto other as you would have done to you" go?

Thanks everyone! Looking forward to spending time with my three kiddos....I'll head back in on Wednesday and hopefully get more done.
