Deb, I'm so sory to hear this. Like some of the other girls mentioned, something about this doesn't sound legal and I know you have enough on your plate right now but it may pay to consult a lawyer.

Wow, classy people there.
Goodwill goes a long way. If it is a publicly traded company, they can actually raise their stock value and their market value on the basis of goodwill. Conversely, it can be lowered as well. I say go public & cram it up their pie-holes.

that is the most horrific thing I have ever heard. I know you do not want to deal with it-- but I am sure there must be some legal action that you can take.
It's amazing how there are just some truly heartless people in this world. It's disgusting.

What jerks! Did they give you good reasoning for it? I was thinking, too, that there may be some legal actions you can look into.

I'm so sorry this is happening to you. You should've been put on disability (which would protect you from being fired). It's very likely that the company screwed up. I'd look for an employment lawyer in your area. You may have a strong case under the ADA. I know it's a lot to handle, but if getting fired affects your benefits, it's worth it to at least call a lawyer. Good luck.
