Opinions on going from twin bed to "fun" toddler bed. With POLL
DS is 2.5 and currently in a twin bed.
DH found a pirate ship toddler bed that he wants to get DS. His mother wants to get it for DS for Christmas. But then we would need a toddler bed mattress.
I think it's a complete waste of money and a step back.
DH thinks he's 2 only once and it would be fun.
Am I just being picky?

I am always of the opinion that if it's not my money, I don't care  Your DS will probably love it! As a compromise, can you guys look for something that will fit a twin mattress?

No, because this thing is one of those fisher price type of deals. It's only comes in a toddler bed.
Normally I wouldn't care. But the weekend before, MIL and I had a discussion about her buying swimming lessons for him. This would replace that. And then cost US money to buy the mattress. KWIM I would never tell her she HAS to get the swim lessons. But it would be money better spent. I told DH, before he even brought MIL into this, that it was a silly idea.
