Our friends baby was born pre-mature and is only 2.5 lbs
One of DH's best friends wife developed pre-eclampsia and has been in the hospital for a few days. They had to take the baby today via emergency c-section and the baby is only 2.5 lbs.  He wasn't due until the middle of January. Has anyone had a baby this pre-mature? DH said his friend sounded positive on the phone and said the baby was doing well, but 2.5 lbs is really small. I'm not sure what kind of complications can develop in a baby that small.
Pls. pray the baby is ok!

Yes I know someone who had a very small baby at 29 weeks (actually 2 of them) and they are fine

My DH was born at 27 weeks and 1.5lbs in 1979 and he is now perfectly healthy and 6'3"

yes...I know someone too born that early and that tiny and is huge now!

A very good firend had er first born at 26 weeks and her second at 29 weeks. Both boys are healthy rambunctious little ones.

My ds was born at 32 weeks but was only developed to the size of a 28-29 weeker....2lbs 9 oz...14.5 inches...and today a very happy 10 month old...adjusted age of 8 months.....crawling, babbling, standing, walking with help.... to your friend....
if you are looking to get her something...dr sears wrote a book on premature babies....basically a reference book for everything you need to know....very helpful....that way your friend wont be lost with all of the talk of vents, cpaps, pdas.....

I am happy to hear so many positive stories. I just can't even imagine what they are going through right now. It's just hard to overlook all the possibilities but like DH said, just think positive. He is in good hands.

My friend had a preemie . He was norn in the 7th month at 2 1/2 pppppounds. He is doing great today - a happy energentic 2 year old. He is just a little small for his age but otherwise fine

my two angels were born at 25weeks and are now almost 3mos. adjusted. they are doing great! i am sure she will be happy and healthy. my prayers and thoughts are with you friends.

I know several friends that have had preemies & micro-preemies. All are fine.
Many hugs & prayers for your friends. She's going to need some support going back & forth to the hospital.

for your friend.
Yes, my twin nephews were born 6 weeks early and weighed that. They both came home four weeks later from the NICU with no complications and are now 16 months and weigh almost 30 lb. I am sure everything will be okay.

a girl i knew at work had her 2nd at 26 weeks and she was 1 lb 12 oz and now she is healthy and happy!

We have friends who delivered a 1lb 5 oz baby boy last July at 25 weeks and he is healthy and thriving. 2lbs 5 ozs is really not that bad this day in age with what they have in the NICU. for your friends and baby.
