my cousin was born 11 yrs ago at 2 lbs, she's a happy and healthy girl who is thriving now. medicine is miraculous!!

OMG - REALLY???? 1.5 lb???????  That is amazing!!!!! 
Well - that should definitely give you hope!
In this day and age, I feel that preemies have excellent chances of really doing well and flourishing and thriving!!!! To your friend and the little peanut!!!!

I believe Alexlynn was a preemie herself - you can FM her.
Having spent time in the NICU with my preemie child myself, I can tell you MANY, MANY babies born premature survive and thrive very well.

My DH was born that early and was only 2 or 3lbs, and that was in 1965!! Medicine has come a long way since then.

One of my friends just went through the same thing- but she had a more severe case of pre-eclampsia- it was a miracle mom and baby survived.
Her DD was born at 1.2 pds and is doing great! She is still in the NICU- she was due the end of Oct and had her in the middle of August. She is now up to 4.5 pds. So 2.5 pds is actually on the higher side for premmies now. I hope everything turns out as well for your friend as it did for mine

yes i had twin girls born at 29 weeks and they are healthy. They spent 3 months in the NICU but they are all good. FM if you want to talk further.

My Grandfather was born so early not sure when.. was a looong time ago but he was so small he fit in a tea saucer dish anyway he was fine for his life and he lived a good life he passed 2 yrs ago. In his 80's so I bet your freinds baby will be fine
