overnight potty training advice
My 2.5 year old has been fully potty trained since Jan. In March, she even started going overnight without diapers. She would get up and go in the potty in her room if she had to go. Then, she stopped doing that, but would hold it all night. She had one accident maybe every other week or so. It wasn't a big deal.
However, the past few weeks, she has been having accidents much more frequently. Almost every night, though she will skip a night or 2. Do i go back to pull ups at night? I really don't want to and am afraid that could even mess up her daytime training (she hasnt had an accident during the day since january). But I am getting worn out from changing sheets in the middle of the night every night, and her mattress is taking a beating as well.
Any advice?

There is no rush on overnight training. I'd go back to pull ups, no question. It won't influence day time training.

Re: overnight potty training advice
I would not go back to pull ups. See that she doesn't drink anything 2hours before bedtime. If she is thirsty then you can give her sips of a drink. Make sure she pees before bedtime...don't force it though.
I also got DS up in the middle of the night and took him to the potty (still half sleep). I read that this lets them know if they have to pee that it's ok to get up and go. After about 3 nights DS got up on his own and once I heard his feet hit the floor I'd jump out of bed (I'm a light sleeper) and we'd run to the potty. He never had an accident since (he's 2.5yrs and we starting 6mnths ago)
Best of luck...It's a long process but I'm a firm believer in if you start it then don't stop it

I think I am going to try waking her up before I go to bed and getting her to use the potty then. I dont give her anything to drink after dinner, though sometimes she will take her sister's cup and drink that. I probably also need to invest in some more sheets and mattress protection!

Re: overnight potty training advice
I wouldn't put her in pull ups.
We just started w/ DD about a month ago. I got one of those full mattress covers (waterproof) that I have directly over the mattress. Then I do one set of sheets & have a small mattress protector on top of that set of sheets; then I double sheet the bed. Therefore if there is an accident middle of the night; I take off top set of sheets & the protector & she still has the bottom set of sheets & the full mattress protector.
We got at Walmart or Target for $10.
I also got a pair of waterproof panties. They are great. They aren't the Gerber ones that are noisy/crunchy. They generally hold a lot in, keeping her PJ's dry & her asleep.
We also limit drinks 2 hours b4 sleep & go right b4 bed. Lately she's been waking up around 10 to go & more often than not waking up dry.
Good luck!
