why shouldn't he be fired???!

tasering his step son is reason enough for his to get fired and so is drinking while driving his police vehicle.

he is very clearly NOT someone who should be wearing a badge!

he was on CNN and admitted that he tasered his step son AND drinking & driving a police car. this guy is a piece of crap and Palin is getting flack for doing a service to the community by getting rid of him and his POS boss who refused to fire him.

I watched that show on CNN last week, Sarah Palin - Reveled, he never admitted to the drinking and driving.

read above - according to his files, he's done it a few times.

eta: and even if that was not true, he STILL deserves to get fired for tasering his step son Chat Icon what a sick *******

Sarah Palin Revealed CNN, 9/13/08 Part 5
His own words.

HIS own words, sure.

but they also talked to some other people who I guess have access to his files and they said not only is the drinking & driving allegation true, it was not the first time.

The fact that people won't testify leads me to believe that they think she did something wrong and they don't want it to come out.

Whether it was right or not is a different topic.

What I am saying is that he ALREADY had a 5 days suspension. Why should he be fired now? Why was he suspended then?

It does not make sense unless it was pending an investigation which does not seem like the case.

If someone was "punished" for his actions and nothing further was done, why should it resurface later and him being fired?

He should have been fired then. The timing is very suspicious. IMHO!Chat Icon

I think he should have been arrested and jailed for assaulting a minor with a weapon.

a 5 day suspension is a joke.

no offense, but I am sure that replies to this topic would be quite different if Biden was involved.

Of course, he should have been fired then. The problem is not that's "OK" to taser your kid.

The problem is the "timing" of it.

The investigation is WHY he was let go AFTER the nasty divorce with the sister.

He could be a total POS. I am not defending that.

As far as the Biden comment. I have to Chat Icon Chat Icon myself.

I really don't like anyone in this election so I have a hard time with all of them.

I can't agree on Palin mainly because of what she believes in.

I think Biden can't talk without putting his foot in his mouth.

it is my opinion that they should wait until after the election to do this investigation. why now? for obvious reasons - the Dems want it now in order to try and discredit her as much as possible. never mind the fact that the trooper's suspension was a ridiculous punishment (less than a slap on the wrist) and he should have been fired on the SPOT and arrested!

I also don't like any of the candidates. but it really makes me mad when all I see is threads about how evil Palin and McCain are and Obama / Biden are saints Chat Icon

Re: Palin's Troopergate Investigation, do you feel it should

why now? becuase the investigation started PRIOR to her nomination!!!!

it's just continuing as scheduled. Why delay it if she has nothing to hide? Just last week she agreed to participate. now there's a 180 degree change.
and her husband will ignore his subpoena.

Why was the guy not fired upon her request? well, he was punished and the case was closed. whether or not the punishment was sufficient is now a moot point becuase once the case is closed, THAT'S IT.

to boot, it is his commanders, not the govenor, who decide if a trooper is fired.

doesn't look honest.

Oof, Biden. He is adding some much needed comic relief to this whole election.

Back to troopergate, I agree with smdl, it's the timing that's odd. Why wasn't he fired when these incidents occurred? He sounds like a POS, but you never know, people do get their act together sometimes. For all we know, he might have done just that. Or maybe he deserved to be let go. At any rate, an investigation won't hurt Palin if she did nothing wrong.

And as for the state employees who refuse to testify, I didn't know you could do that and get away with it. Don't blame them in a way though, they may be concerned that Palin will be back to get even if she loses. And from what's leaking out about her management style, she would get even.

I would not say they are saints. Don't you remember all the bashing on Obama. His arabic origin middle name, the issue with his reverent/church.

I am not quite sure it was all saint on him.

In the end, I want to know who I am voting for. I need to know BEFORE I vote for them if they are "fake".

Does it matter to me that Palin hates her ex BIL? No, I already did not agree with her as a choice BEFORE the down syndrom baby, the PG daughter, this investigation.

But I would want the same from any politician.

I have no tolerance for corruption and abuse of power. Whether you are a Dem., Rep or green party as a matter of fact.

I don't want to find out afterwards that the person I "thought" I wanted is totally different behind the scenes and involved in shady deals.

But that's me!

I'm not a palin 'hater'... I'm not into partisan arguments... but I AM a hardcore when it comes to ethics.

I respect the due process of law, even when it doesn't end the way I would prefer. (case in point: the infamous OJ trial). you simply don't bend laws when it's convenient or may suit your needs. and you don't turn a blind eye to senior gov't officials who attempt to bend laws instead of uphold them... no matter what the situation.

I'm somewhat in disbelief that more people aren't worried by the precedence this would set if alaska turned a blind eye to a govenor possibly coercing/blackmailing good state employees (the trooper's superiors) to break the laws they swore to uphold.

The issue is not whether this POS deserved to be fired for X, Y, Z reason.

The issue is that it was done before and investigated and she did not fire him until AFTER there was a nasty divorce with her sister.

Which means she is mixing personal business with a political position and use of power?

That's the issue. Can she use her power as Governor to settle scores? And that's what the investigation is about.

The investigation was started BEFORE her nomination. It was not started after she was nominated. Someone saw something "to be checked" into before she was a nominee so it's not about everybody against Palin.

She cannot be cleaned of an investigation because she is a VP nominee.

The investigation is not about her former BIL is it?

It's about her firing the Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan in July of 08.
Allegedly he resisted pressure from the Governor to fire Palin’s ex-brother-in-law, Trooper Mike Wooten, who was involved in a bitter child custody battle with Palin’s sister.

ETA sorry about the republican commentChat Icon

the way I see it, this cop is a criminal. and if the Commissioner didn't feel it necessary to fire a criminal, who is supposed to be protecting citizens from people like himself, then maybe he has something to hide, maybe he was the corrupt one who the cop has some "dirt" on. who wouldn't fire a POS like Wooten?

I've spent way too much of my time arguing my opinion on this.. Chat Icon
