Parents whose kids do NOT sit still for photos....ever!

Have you done any professional photos? How do you find the experience? Was it worth it?

I have done KK and the other one in the mall, but at 2 years old, this boy does not sit still for any photos ever...it has to be candid because he rarely will stay put long enough to get a shot.....

Any suggestions/advice?

OMG, this is my son.

My mom and I took DS who is 3, and DD who is 2, to KK on Saturday... what a nightmare. DS DID NOT want to sit and I was practically pleading with him to just sit with his sister for one minute. The only way I got DD to sit was to bribe her with M&M's afterwards if she sat.. and she did. DS could care less about my bribe and just ran wild all over the little area. I got one pic of the two of them sitting on a little bench, but I don't like it enough to buy anything.

In the end, I am going to try to do my own pics at home in front of our tree. I find that Ryan gets soooo excited at new places that he just can't help himself. At home, I can seem to get them to sit together more and longer, and smile for pics.

How old? If I'm outside, I usually put them on their belly. It takes a few seconds for them to get up.

There's a reason the photographers are putting those kids in wagons, buckets, etc.

good question, we're taking DS (2 yo) and my niece (3 months) to KK in a few weeks and I'm just imagining the chaos. I can't see anyway he is going to sit for a photo.

I've never done studio photos of the either of the boys. Since they started walking most of the photos I take involve them running away.

Summer Lyn was the first professional session that we done and she got some great shots. She let them be boys and just took a bunch of different shots.

DD only sits still for Heather. She runs like the wind at Sears, Target and home for daddy. If she gets in a mood she will "pose" for me. I still love all the pics I have of her - running and otherwise.

Bribery.

But serisously, take a lollipop with you and some wipes and say you can have a lick when you sit and smile. Give them a lick (and a quick wipe!) in between each smile. Works every time!

That's Cailen. I was afraid I was going to be wasting the money I saved for 5 months for my shoot with September Blue but she caught gorgeous shots of him on the go. And looking back someday that's the Cailen I want to remember. Wild and free, not stiff with a strained smile on his face.

I just posted pics from our recent AvaJack shoot and DD was impossible, but there are a bunch of shots that I love so I think it's worth it even if you only get a few!

I LOVE candid pic which is why I asked Sandra to get the shot of Mattea whaling!!!!!!!

I have learned that the all of my sessions will be outside! No more studio pics for me.

I have done KK for the special holidays in the past. I have an appt in a few weeks and we will try it but I'm not holding my breath. We tried to take pictures at my parents home this past weekend b.c it was my grandmother's 90th bday and my father's bday and they both would like some nice pictures of the girls. Yeah that didn't work out all that well. DD#2 is squirmy even if she can't walk or crawl she is arching her back and trying to get away, DD#1 won't sit still for 5 second to snap a picture without kissing or hugging her sister trying to climb down out of the chair to run around.

Sandra - September Blue! She has taken amazing shots of Lucas...all in motion because the boy never sits still. She seriously has a way with boys...helps that she is the mother to two gorgeous little guys! She has such patience...and actually has so much fun with them!

I have a stool that I put them on...

They cant get down...

Or they cant easily get down....

One mom who came to me for photos got the little boy to sit by telling him NOT to sit in the chair...He would promptly sit in the chair and smile each and every time...

Ive been using the trick and it's been working like a charm....

i bride with food and toys as props. For christmas i'm trying the enormous lollipop and toy ornaments...for easter i used a basket of plastic eggs.

it's that or we go outside for on the move candids
