PCOS: anyone know of an herb/something natural that does what Provera does?
my first 3 PP AFs were relatively normal (33-36ish days), now I'm on my 4th cycle PP and we're on day 58 with no AF. and NO, I'm definitely not pregnant.
I left my OBGYN the week I delivered my son - I'm no longer with that practice and I will never go back.
I have my annual/first appt with my new OBGYN (the staff Dr at the hospital when I delivered) in March. Nothing available for new patients before that.
The RE I was seeing for my PCOS (prescribed my glucophage) before I was PG can't see me now because my ultimate goal isn't to have a baby and they only thing they'll do for me is prescribe BCP.
I'm trying to avoid hormonal BCP because I can't deal with the side effects. It destroys my skin, i get hot flashes, etc.
Sooo if there isn't anything "natural" that brings on AF, where do you suggest I go to get some Provera? (what Dr)
Thanks!

Hi!
Just a thought - have you had your thyroid checked?
I too did not have AF for 2 months last year and was not pregnant, but a blood test showed I had hypothyroidism as soon as I went on synthroid, AF came back like clockwork.
May not be the same for you but I thought I may throw that out there just in case.
GL!

I am not sure of anything specific but any doctor I have spoken to have said that I will have to be on BCP if I don't want to be pregnant.
I belong to a PCOS message board and they have a section where the girls discuss alternative remedies (that's the name of the board). I haven't looked into it yet because I joined when I was TTCing.

Vitex (chasteberry) is supposed to regulate cycles and it's natural. They have it at stores like GNC.

thanks - I'm on there too!
and I've been told the same thing from several Drs - unless I want to be pg, I should be on BCP. I REALLLLLLY can't do it - you would fall over if i showed you pics of my hives from my hormone reactions.

thank you - i bought a bottle of it from puritan.com last year and used it for 3 months. unfortunately, it didn't have any effect on me. (but fortunately, no hives!)

There's also something called Buckwheat Farinetta. It's a grain flour (or something like that) that you can make bread or muffins out of and it has been said to help women with PCOS. I haven't tried it myself yet but I plan to.
