Re: Peanut allergy question
I still keep PB in the house but way out if his reach. No one eats it when he's around.

Peanut allergy question
How severe is the allergy?? I know someone who doesn't have ANY peanut products in her house because the allergy is pretty severe.

Re: Peanut allergy question
He had peanut butter once and his eye swelled up. For the blood work peanut level was >100. All other nuts were moderate

Re: Peanut allergy question
We do not keep any nut products in the house period.
We just did a peanut challenge and DD is not allergic, but is stll allergic to tree nuts, so we do have peanut products.
We do not bring anything that she cannot have into the house.

Re: Peanut allergy question
What did your allergist say? Ours said absolutely no peanut or tree nut products. And we also need to avoid foods with possible cross contamination ("made on equipment/in factory that also processes..."). My DS also has allergies to peanut and tree nuts.
I wouldn't mess around with something like this. I'd call the doctor and ask for clarification.

Re: Peanut allergy question
My 2 year old has a severe peanut allergy (moderate to tree nuts). His first reaction was at Thanksgiving--he grabbed and ate a tiny piece of a Snickers and started coughing almost instantly and that lasted for 12 hours. He also threw up within an hour. Testing later revealed a high allergy.
Despite that, we still have not changed anything at home. He's got 2 older sisters--one of whom lives on peanut butter! My DH and I eat it regularly as well. He does not have access to ANY food here anyway and his 5 and 7 year old sisters have been strictly warned...but they knew the routine as he's also allergic to eggs since he was a baby.
I'll be taking him to an allergist soon to get more information, but for now we're living our lives as we have been.

Re: Peanut allergy question
we have peanuts/almonds in the cabinets high above his reach...I cannot even reach them...
but we also have peanut butter bec my DD eats and love it...but we make sure we make his jelly only sandwich first so there is no cross contamination...
he only had one reaction so i guess it is not that severe thank god - so he can be in the same room, just not eat!
I guess we are doing a good job - bec his reaction was his one and only 2 years ago! *knock on wood*
